Is it mandatory for the artist to display jewellery while performing. Happy, they could accumulate it through their hard work. There is a Tavil playing vidwan who wears wristwatch. People come to watch their performance and not what they wear and how they look.

I have thought bout this! It's their tradition to wear jewellery! As a mridangam player, i follow our seniors and they follow theirs. One more thing, they ll be bare chested in most of the temples and processions, so not to look empty they might use lot of jewellery!

If it is normal watch with springs, by wearing it while playing Tavil or Meridamgam will kill the watch in few mnts beyond repairing

@@avinodshyam have you watched palghat Mani Iyer and now octogenarian Umayalapuram Sivaraman. There are many many even now with modest. Abhishek Raghuram, Kunnakudi Balamurali, etc., Are also great artist. All jewellery and makeup are only distraction and does not in any way improve the artist performance.
