Tawi-Tawi Day 4 - Simunul Island, Sheikh Karimul Makhdum Mosque

We went to Simunul Island on our fourth day in Tawi-Tawi, about an hour's boat ride from Bongao.
We visited the Sheikh Karimul Makhdum mosque, the first and oldest mosque in the Philippines, built in 1380 in Bohe Indangan, Simunul.
Arab missionary Sheik Makdum reached the shores of Tubig Indangan and supervised the mosque's construction, thus marking the introduction of Islam in the Philippines.
His remains are interred within the mosque's premises and his memory is honored and revered by the people of the community.
