Absolutely brilliant 👍. You're a top bloke Simon, proper down to earth. I'm so envious of your set up, down there in Wales at your new home. Up here In bury lancs. I live overlooking open countryside and have barn and tawny owls roe deer foxes and badgers. And I'd love to set up a lighting system , to photograph them all, but sadly it wouldn't last 2 minutes before someone would steal or vandalise it. Like I said once before on your vlogs on badgers. We've had scumbags badger baiting and hunting roe deer. So all I can rely on is my low glow night cams. And I know it's only a matter of time before they get found. Anyhow on a more positive note , your set up is great. I've said it before. Your vlogs are better than watching telly 👏 best wishes mick 👍

Hi Simon, that was a cracking video. The work that you & your good lady have put into developing your new surroundings is great to see & those perches look really really good, no doubt their’ll be some cracking images coming from them👍 that image of the Owl when one light failed was superb, maybe some kind of remote switch box to flick between one light & two might be something to explore🤔. Looking forward to the next one (btw nice to see you back in the tragopan, just like the old days😂)
@simoneardley3 ай бұрын
Cheers Roy, yes I like that one too. Just shows the difference that a subtle change makes to an image. I think a new flash set up where I can control the flashes from the transmitter are in order!!
@royparkes61823 ай бұрын
@@simoneardley Hi Simon, you may already know lighting system you want but i see the Profoto Air Remote trigger system popping up a fair bit in adverts etc. It looks very interesting, it gives the user total control over each flash’s individual power which can fire either individually or in groups over a remotely controlled distance of around 100mtrs. Its all controlled from a neat little controller fitted to the cameras hot shoe. You never know Profoto may give you a set to try for free given the number of viewers you have & the potential for sales / product exposure etc. Might be worth an online look to see if it appeals👍

Really good video and very well explained- I've been shooting Barn and Tawny using nearby street lighting and similar, they show no interest in the light source once they have become comfortable with it. Tawny are very inquisitive birds, and like to check out anything new, so I'll try a light panel with them and see what happens. Barn Owls can be a little more reserved, but you never know. Interested to know how you got them to locate and use the perch - is it the only suitable one in that area or did you bait to get them to find it or was it just good fortune?
@simoneardley2 ай бұрын
Thanks David, the original perch was put up for the Buzzards and they along with the Tawny Owl started coming down without bait. I think its because its at the top of a steep field and it gives them a good vantage point.
