I do not own Taxi Driver period, however I will pick it up but probably during the holidays, I think it will be a $10.00 Amazon black friday deal. I have so many things preordered right now, so I have to pick and choose.

I picked it up. The 4k is gorgeous and the OG Mono soundtrack is sublime! Bernard Herman's score sounds lovely..highly recommended.

Schrader's movies about a broken man are damn good. Rolling Thunder was sandwiched between this and Raging Bull but it also got a nice 4k this year. Worth checking out. We can only tip the cap to Sony because Taxi Driver is one of the best on the format. So filmic looking and even the packaging has the original artwork!!

Payday = pickup! I absolutely love this movie and can't wait to watch it in glorious 4k!!! And yeah, my local Best Buy stopped selling physical media about 2 or more months ago and it was a shock... they still have toys, collectibles, vinyl, etc... but no films!? Such a bad decision.

I got this steelbook and watched it for the first time. Felt like I had already seen it due to the countless times I’ve heard it quoted. Great transfer and great movie. I was surprised that it had a cheerful ending.

I watched this release last week. All round one of the best 4Ks. Brilliant film and stunning transfer. Even the audio which is typically the weakest aspect of older catalog titles is excellent. This is what physical media is about. No standard release is my only gripe. And Matt needs a haircut.

C’est Arrivé Près de Chez Vous (Man Bites Dog) with Benoit Poelvoorde and La Haine from Mathieu Kassovitz were heavily inspired by Taxi Driver. Those 2 films I highly recommend to watch if you didn’t already!

16:35 Taxi Driver is phenenomal and I so get where Russ is coming from but I don't think film making died... just it's cinematic audience and the want to market a film over a "movie" (as Russ might put it) has. The masses don't go and see real films en masse anymore... unless it is Nolan. Ironically they barely go to any of Scorceses recent films. Killers of The Flower Moon was very good with a close to career best performance from Di Caprio (and it proved De Niro still has it). It made a big loss with a big budget... but it exists! Some notable fantastic films from 2023 that barely registered a dime at the box office... but they exist! They just needed better marketing and not limited cinema releases 🤷‍♂️ To stay on theme I've noted some relevant small parallels/elements, in that if you love Taxi Driver (as a perfect film), then you might like these films. I'm not saying these are Taxi Driver or like it. Hopefully you get the gist. 😅 More importantly they are all original films worthy of way more recognition. Banshees of Inisherin - has those isolation themes. Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson give wonderful performances, only equalled by the supporting cast. The Holdovers - Pure 70s aesthetic, nailed to the point it's transports you there. All of Us Strangers - Again isolation themes, masterful acting from the whole cast. Superbly directed. Beautifully fearless. *Seriously* watch this film. Especially if you like the 80s. The Iron Claw - Beautifully shot, great acting, sombre but compelling. Film making is still alive! Just about!

I have the laserdisc and the score expanded on vinyl. It’s a phenomenal film but it does play out at the end exactly like a dream. I’ve always said it ends in that room with the camera being him leaving with ya out similar to what parasite does. Anyways it’s a fantastic film and one of martys best. Can’t wait to get the 4K but does it have the original mono audio?

I liked the HDR but there was a lot of grain. I’m not hating on this remaster or anything but this is my favorite movie of all time and I love all the remasters of this movie. But I give the 4K a 7.6/10

I am now boycotting James from "In Search Of Physical Media" he is refusing to review LGBTQ films, he actually said in a recent video "They are not my cup of tea" and that he was not reviewing Brokeback Mountain 4K or In and Out 4K which are both being released from Kino Lorber.. Horror is my favorite genre, but I like all different genres of films.. James reviews a lot of films that he doesn't like himself, because he has said so, so why are LGBTQ films the only genre that he is discriminating against ?? I think we all know the answer to that, boycott his channel if this matters to you as a movie collector..

I've never watched his channel, did he outwardly state his refusal to review them? If so, that's terrible and where does he draw the line? Is it gay depictions only, since director Ang Lee (Brokeback) is hetero? Is To Die For off the list since director Gus Van Sant is gay?

@@russceasetheruss5360 Hey Russ, sorry i'm just getting back to you, James just made the comment during one of his very recent review video's that Brokeback Mountain was being released but that "It wasn't his cup of tea" so he would not be watching it" But Russ, I have been watching his channel for a while now, and in a previous video he mentioned that some of his reviews are for films that he wouldn't ordinarily but that he watches the films so that he can review them for us, the members of the channel. However this was the first time that I had ever heard him say that he wasn't going to watch a film that he was giving a release date on, until the next video when he mentioned "IN AND OUT" starring Kevin Kline, and HE DID THE EXACT SAME THING, mentioned it mentioned a few specs offered by Kino Lorber, but would not be watching it for a 4K REVIEW.. So I am so done with his channel, and am letting people know how homophobic he seems to be. But Russ, I just want to thank you and Matt for being so great, and I know there is not a prejudice bone in your body. Gus Van Zant's "My Own Private Idaho" is a great film starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix, and also check out "A Single Man" starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, directed by Tom Ford... Both great films with a gay subject matter that I think you will enjoy. I can tell you love movies as much as I do, i'm often very impressed with your knowledge of film and especially your passion for great films..

And yes, I can assure you Matt and I are not racist, homophobic, or misogynistic in any way. Your initial comment actually made me throw out an idea to Matt to do a Top 5 Gay Films not on 4K segment. We totally could have reviewed Brokeback also, I personally have tons of things to say about the film (all positive), but I hope you notice we only do a handful of legit "reviews" that usually focus on the heavy-hitter, special edition types, which the KINO release unfortunately wasn't. You're preaching to the choir with My Own Private Idaho, I've liked that movie since I was 13. Definitely a great recommendation, I was saying to Matt recently in a private conversation how I think Gus Van Sant has been overshadowed in some ways. I feel like he's not as celebrated as he should be.

@@russceasetheruss5360 Yeah, I definitely know you are straight, when I mentioned these two films its just about the quality of these films, yes the subject matter is gay in theme, but they are both such great films and they offer so much more than just being gay films. Especially "A Single Man" I love that film, the acting, script, and especially the cinematography.
