I share about you and even play your videos with people from the Middle East, especially when I hear that they are from Iraq and I can see them smiling and a little twinkle in their eyes, while mine well up with tears of joy. I’m so glad I’ve come across your music and I thank GOD for you 🤗 May HIS bountiful blessings & HIS protection be with you & over you Layth 🙏❤️🙌

Layth, such a good point. I almost always connect with taxi drivers over music, because I always ask them to play whatever kind of music they normally listen to. Sometimes I have to kind of convince them that I'm not joking. I studied a song by Amir Khusro and I sang it once for my Pakistani cab driver, and he started crying. He said he was so moved to hear me singing it, he didn't expect it. But, I'm sure not all customers are so eager to share their cabby's music, unfortunately. But I hope your video encourages more to do so!

That is exactly how the real artists respect others since they understand the world shared language, it’s the language of music. Thanks

Layth, great video and concept. I used to catch lot of taxi rides in Moscow as I didn’t have a car and learned different genres of Russian, Tatar, Tajik, Kazakh, Bashkiri, Turkmen, Armenian etc. music from what they were playing.

I listened to this type of music as I fell asleep when I was younger and I think you made a really good point. Different types of music should be represented to gain perspective on different styles of music. I feel this personally when I play Arab music in my orchestra. Many people see microtones as scary, when it is a fundamental part of Arab music. Good point and good playing. I think your skill is unmatched with any other violinist and you are one of the reasons I got into maqamats on my violin.

Some say, never meet your idols. Because their personalities might not be as glamorous as their art. Layth, you just became a contradiction to this. Such a nobel spirit to embrace other cultures. Love from Iran❤️

I talk to the drivers when I go to physical therapy sometimes they’re from the Middle East or Israel or north Africa and Arabic music is always the topic they love to talk about it and when I tell them of artist from their country they are so surprised whether it’s Algeria or from the Sephardic community.
