You just made a 73 year old man. Listen to these two stories twice in a row. I had the joy of seeing Harry sing several times in Toronto. After each time I listen to him, my eyes seem to get damp. The age I am born not long after WW11. We were taught by our parents to never cry. But somehow I think this would be an exception. Thank You

I first heard Harry in 1976 in Arizona on the radio. Didn't know who he was then. Then while in Germany and living in a barracks I heard him again through a door. I recognize the song, it was Taxi again. So I met the guy and he introduced me to Harry and his music... I been a fan ever since. That has been 43 years now. I've heard a few interviews, but have always enjoyed all his music. I'm sure the Good Lord has been enjoying his music ever since!

I heard Harry 4 times and was never disappointed. His stories were always poignant and reflected the truth of the emotional core of our lives. Everyone could relate to his stories. Singer, storyteller, humanitarian. A short life well lived. RIP

You were correct Mr Chapin . Maybe you predicted your end when your last words to your Sequel were Only time will tell? In less than a year after writing these beautiful songs you found yourself on a highway passing a semi. You were a wonderful storyteller. I think you would have had a long wonderful career. I heard Harry sing this in the summer of 1980 in the Bay Area. It was rather surreal and he relished wowing the audience with Sequel there. After the concert, I waited in line to have Harry autograph my album. I was a 22 year old earth mama and he looked into my eyes, smiled and said, "I don't want to regret not kissing your lips", then he kissed me sweetly. Maybe I looked familiar, it was the 4th and last time I heard him perform. RIP Harry. I'm busy trying to act happy.

Beautiful memory and I am so happy you got to experience this. Tickets are so expensive now that you almost have to mortgage something to see any of them. The artists that started out on their own terms and playing in different venues for 35$ to see them, these were the ones that promoted and paid to have their own pressed. Cody Jinks is this artist and he even said he wouldn’t do this to his fans. Well check his tickets sales now, 500$+ just for one ticket. And I have bought all of his albums because he was making it in his own way and on his own terms. And my granddaughter at 15 yo discovered him around the time I invested in a vintage system to play these vinyls on. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t buy anything else from him.

In 1975 I had to write a paper for a high school English class. I played Taxi over and over and turned it into my paper. Got a B+ only because it was a little short in length. With this extended version I could have pulled an A. I often wondered if the teacher later heard this song and my paper popped up in her head as I closely followed most of the song. Thank you Harry, rest in peace. It's a great song and I like the remix even better.

I love this song and I had the pleasure of seeing Harry perform “Taxi” in person in 1978. My brother learned to play it on his guitar because he knew how much I loved it. Plus, it was really fitting.
