The state bureaucrats and their minions demanded the state flag and the associated flag-based symbols (employee patches) be replaced by 1/1/25 so it couldn't be changed back to the original without spending additional large amounts of money. Changing the flag was an absolutely unnecessary project, i.e. waste of time and money. The same could be said for the name change of Lake Calhoun. Politicians should not be worshiped or memorialized using tax dollars, and I would propose that no elected official or bureaucrat that during their tenure was responsible for spending our tax dollars, should have their name or likeness on any city, county, state property.

The stupidest towns are the college towns, like the one in which I live (and ran for school board) - Northfield. There are about 20,000 residents (of whom maybe 8-10,000 are of voting age) which incredulously, according to the census, includes the 5,000 college students (St. Olaf, Carleton) who are ALLOWED to vote in LOCAL elections. Most of the students don't live here, they're not from here. They have no stake in the town's future. Yet they get to vote on our taxes, our schools, our future. And that's the reason why we end up with Leftist Lunatics on the school board and city government EVERY SINGLE TIME. The teacher's union spent $50,000 on campaigning for the DEI-trans-team now on the board.

Why do people keep voting for these officials.

They are Clients serving a Patron. In return for their loyalty, obedience, and support they receive wealth, prestige, and power. This is _ancient_ and global; every civilized society runs off Patron-Client relationships, and only in the Anglosphere do we dare call it anything else and expect machine-like behavior.

Okay, what _I_ want to know is what the political activity of all these candidates are. This is classic Patron-Client payoffs in action, so I expect all of these people to be lockstep DFL voters and advocates in return for all this largess.

They should coordinate with Patrick Reuse and his Turkey of the Year Award; although Patrick is a staunch Democrat, it seems that most of these should be non-partisan (excepting the DEI nomination). On the other hand, it seems Minnesotan's deserve two turkeys with this kind of spending. The Loon Center could be used to treat the most extreme of the DEI loonies on the left who suffer from TDS and identity dystopia.
