Any semblance of accountability has gone out the window. I'm a Canadian, but I've been living abroad for nearly 15 years. While I've spent most of my time in so-called developing countries, I've also spent many years in countries said to be on par or nearly on par with Canada in terms of "development". Take, for instance, Singapore or South Korea. Highly developed countries with extensive bureaucratic systems, with a key difference being there is accountability and public knowledge of how public money is spent with broad public access to recourse. In Canada, this is hardly ever the case. Shadowy cohorts of bloated bureaucratic systems (and diplomatic corps) where citizens have little to no available avenues to hold public servants accountable for their budgets, their projects or their conduct. Clearly the reason this remains the case is because it serves them and the systems they exploit.

While I certainly agree with the message, it's illegal for employers not to automatically deduct taxes. You do not have to submit a tax return as long as you do not owe any taxes for that year but there is no way for the vast majority of Canadians to simply stop the tax man from collecting.

We, as individuals, have to do more. Lots more!! We MUST take up our grievances with our MPs! We must send emails asking questions. We must send emails voicing our concerns, our displeasures. We must use our energy in constructive ways; simply posting comments on social media is not nearly enough. Every and all emails and letters sent to your MP becomes public record. I have sent a few to my MP, Chad Collins, regarding excess deaths. I have not received one reply. However, public records will prove that he has been made aware of this ongoing, global concern.
