Tayler! You are becoming my favorite podcast, and - there are a LOT of podcasts out there. I love your charm, your energy, your humor and your non-nonsense brisk way of moving through information. So thank you very very much. I actually have some fingering silk skeins and found, in deep stash, matching mohair, so this is great for me as well. Mine is bright yellow , and so must be considered a because WOW, what a statement. I love the idea of a big summery cardigan. You are an awesome talent; we are so lucky. Thank you.

Hello Taylor, Needles 2 in Germany are 2mm, so a US 0.
@HannaVilkman7 ай бұрын
I think it's good to know that mulberry silk like the Purl Soho Cattail Silk is quite a different material than bourette silk like the Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. Mulberry silk or just silk that I think Alexandra's yarn is, is more slippery, has that sheen and is more delicate in use than bourette silk that is more rustic and uneven and doesn't have that sheen but is easy to wear and care and also ethical as the silk worms are not killed when making bourette silk. I've knitted two shawls with Knitting for Olive Pure Silk and they are the best carefree summer shawls! I'm just about to cast on a summer top using KfO Pure Silk and I think it's gonna be lovely.

Love these suggestions! Because she said she has never knit a sweater, I suggest knitting a sample out of scrap yarn or something cheap. JMO but frogging a silk yarn that's so very beautiful and special might be frustrating. In the garment-making industry, it's called making a muslin. Basically creating a garment out of a cheap fabric so you can adjust the pattern as needed.

I think a top like Soulmate Summer Shirt by Lisa Kirchhoff. It's simple enough for someone new to top and sweater knitting and ideal to show off a fine yarn. Plenilune Tee by Alicia Plummer would work well too. There's likely enough yarn to make both. Swatching for a nice fabric is important and there's enough there to experiment with holding more than one strand in the knitting for more options.

Beautiful yarn + suggested projects. Alexandria, please give Tayler an update when you cast on!

The first time I worked with silk I found I had to use a larger needle and metal needles as opposed to wood because the yarn was really grippy (doubley so if it's single rather than plied yarn). Just something to keep in mind if anyone else is knitting silk for the first time
@carinaherrling87737 ай бұрын
Hej Taylor, love your channel enjoy every second of it.😊 Now that i'm german, let me give a quick Tip: the needles at the Label are in millimeter - so the "2" means 2mm - so therefore a US size 0. Such a beautiful yarn❤... Ciao Carina

These are all nice, but so big & baggy. I really want to make some summer garments that are a little more fitted like a nice blouse with short sleeves with a V-Neck.
@romyhartenstein77795 ай бұрын
Hi, German viewer here. The "2" next to the needles are referring to 2mm needles (as a staring point/suggested needle - US 1). So I would guess that would make it lace to light fingering

Moon Set Tee by Ozetta is another silk yarn wardrobe staple that would be beautiful in that yarn! I'm knitting it right now in merino praying that it will still look nice despite being a different fiber type, but the construction has been so fun and interesting so far and the pattern has great support with videos and tutorials to help with the tricky parts.

I'm doing the Avani Tank by Caidree in Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. I would recommend dropping down a needle size or two and sizing up for the size made because at gauge with needle recommended it's a little airy-er than I would prefer.

I think Taylor's little black T, would be lovely in a silk yarn. It would make it more drapery, but that is what a silk sometimes does. I don't know about your silk, but if it has that soft sheen, it will knit more densely. It will depend on your needles, smaller=dense fabric and larger= open & flowy. I had a silk dress made for me in Hong Kong and it had that sheen, but it created a more dense fabric. It was great wear-ability. It was cool in the summer and warm in the winter with cardigan put over it. In the US we don't know silk like we know other fibers, which is too bad. Good luck with whatever you choose, i know it will turn out lovely!

Hayyy I just wanted too confirm that Anna is indeed polish and being polish myself I had no other option but laugh really hard for your pronunciation but I absolutely dont mean it in a bad way, how could I? When polish is, well let's say, not the easiest language 🤭 and I can't even tell you how to pronounce this correctly cuz English doesn't even have this sounds, so frustrating hahah, but you were pretty close. It's k like c in coffee, rz like j in French i belive, y almost like first I in imagine but more down in a throat, your ż sound was perfect (rz is the same sound) a like in Alaska and the k again😝 So sorry, I love pronunciation so any time I have a chance to kinda teach sb I have to do it... Also, so sorry if another polish person already said all the above, I checked some comments if so, but didn't find any so decided to do it myself. And last but not least, just found your videos yesterday and currently binge watching them while knitting... all of my wips...God I have so many, anyway, thank you for all your work on this Chanel, I really love it Kisses from Warsaw

I second what @HannaVilkman said. I’m currently knitting the Cattail Silk yarn and it’s more like raw silk fabric in feel, a little “tacky” instead of what most people think of which is “silky” silk, like charmeuse fabric. It’s very nice to knit with.
