I've always dug Taylor doing "I'll Always Love You" live. I'm sorry I never caught Taylor Dayne live in the late '80s. I thought she couldn't top the performance at the Apollo Theater in Harlem ... and then I came across THIS video. Wow, girl, you and your band really turned this song out on "Arsenio." That sweet harmonizing toward the end is celestial, gets me every time. A big thank you to luckysmusic for posting this vid!

I got to see her on her "bug out tour" in Spring Valley NY. (A bug out tour is when the bands used to do very small gigs in local clubs to work out the bugs, before being in front of thousands of people on the main tour). She sang this song with all her heart. As she did with her other hits. The club fit only about 250 people. We had an amazing time listening to her in such an intimate setting. I was about 15 feet from her. I could hear that BIG voice before it even hit the microphone! One of the best experiences in my life!

Sounded and looked amazing then, still does now! If I ever get married again, Taylor Dane's "I'll Always Love You" (extended version) will be in the mix. Thanks so much for posting this rare live performance from the 1980s. I only saw her perform live on television once when I was a girl, and that was on "It's Showtime at the Apollo," where girlfriend knocked it out the park on that extended climax. Whoa! This is one of those songs that's equally, romantic, genuine, sensual and erotic -- tailormade for Taylor. Oh, and I always loved the backing vocals, too. :)
