Listen I know all good guitars are nice. But I’ve owned one of all the major brands and finally got a Taylor this year. It totally changed my life and my playing. It’s so incredible it makes me play every second I can. I never have to force myself to practice.

This was great and I loved hearing from Andy. The clip that showed the extra work that goes into a Builder’s Edition guitar (beveling the edges) made me realize I would love to see a video that follows the process of building one of the Builder’s Edition guitars (K14ce or similar) from start to finish so we can appreciate all the work and artistry that goes into those guitars.

You show a beautiful factory, thanks to which I had learn a lot of things about guitars. I bought the BUILDERS EDITION, it was signed by ANDY POWERS and the sale was made by THOMANN , because I thought that a good company could sell SUCH TRASH FOR SO MUCH MONEY. I wrote a lot of e-mails to Taylor's representative in Amsterdam, today after 6 months the list of errors has increased many times. My name is T. Sobczak , I live in Poland and what I bought has nothing to do with what you are showing here.

I have two Taylor guitars, love them both. Ad17e and 327e. But another factor of my buying a Taylor is they repurpose, recycle the unused, or what some would consider "waste wood" and their goal to protect and not just use and abuse our trees/forests. Kudo's Taylor Guitar company.

I never liked the sound of Taylor guitars, when I played them, even though they where so comfortable to play. Went to a local guitar dealer to upgrade to a high quality guitar. They had Taylor, Martina and Gibson. Wanted a guitar that would strum with my fingers or a pick and fingerpick well. One of those, “I’m buying the one I like the best, no matter the cost”, trips. Played the Gibsons and Martins and settled on the guitar that I figured I would want when I walked in, the Martin D28. Then I said, let me try some Taylor’s, just because they had some models I hadn’t seen up close before. Was blown away by the Taylor 416ce, X brace model. Beautiful playability (of course) and just incredible sound. This is the rare body shape by Taylor that come with medium / .13 gauge strings, like the traditional Martin models. Plenty of bass with those strings and that body size, but not overpowering bass, and so clear overall. Walking In would have laughed and bet anything I was not walking out with a Taylor. Love that guitar and would not give it up for any other.

Taylor definitely make consistent guitars. I have consistently tried to find one I actually enjoy the sound of, but they consistently let me down in the same way every time. They are doing a great job for people who like the sound of a Taylor. Build quality is up there with the best, so for me, it's only sound issue...well, the price, too. I don't feel like I am getting the "best" guitar for my money with a Taylor. They do make some pretty guitars, though. Honestly, I get the feeling that Andy Powers is a great snake oil salesman. He definitely knows how to sell ice to a polar bear. 🐰❤️🌼🎸🎶🤝✌️

Jack the Rabbit Don’t hold back Jack lol. Marketing in general is bs, but everyone does it. You can thank Edward Bernays for modern public relations, marketing & propaganda. It’s efficacy is dangerous and frankly, depressing. Taylor has one model I’d love to have, their 512 12 fret cedar/mahogany, but at nearly 3k I’ll pass...maybe used someday. I’m tempted to give the Breedlove Pursuit Concertina e a chance at $500. It’s the closest thing to the 512 12 fret I can find. I’m afraid though, that like Taylor, you have to buy an American made Breedlove to get a good tone, and then your looking at Taylor prices. The Washburn Timeless might fill the need but I’m still on the fence with that one. Yours is the ONLY demo and it was a bit too short for me to decide. I’d love to hear it with a pick and some light strumming 😬.

@@fredflinstone3173 Lol! Good to see you, Fred! I actually have 2 guitars coming in: a Cort p6 coming next month, probably at the end of the month, and a Maestro OO MH...but I'm going to do a comparison with the two Washburn 12 fret parlor guitars I have here against the Cort P6. I'll definitely do some strumming! I'll use a pick too, so you can hear. I have a much better setup now, so I'll try to get the sound as close as I can to how I'm hearing it in the room. I never usually watch stuff about Taylor guitars, but I'm on a quest to find out exactly what it is that turns me off so hard from owning one. I have played so many, and I have heard every demo you can think of, but never once thought to see how they make them - and never once said "I need this guitar". I have watched videos from Martin, Cort, Gibson, Godin, and some boutique builders as well, but the Taylor factory had an entirely different vibe. Idk, they just don't sound "right" to my ears. I don't even think I would take a free one...well, I would, but I'd sell it lol! Just me, I understand the function they serve for live use, and lots of songwriters play them. They're just not the instruments for me. 😂💜😇

@fredflinstone3173 3 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I’m so looking forward to that comparison! The P6 is also on my short list, but I’ve only found one seller and he’s taking prepaid pre-orders. I haven’t heard of Maestro. And dude, I thought you lost your job! Are you a rocket scientist, or doctor or something?! Apparently the cash hasn’t stopped flowing in your house. I’m off to see what a Maestro is...cheers my friend!

@@fredflinstone3173 Lol I did lose my job, but I'm blessed to have patrons around me who believe in my music and are very generous. I'm going to be working with a friend from Singapore, named Jonathan Koh, and he's going to help me professionally produce my album. I'm trying to get a few companies to help me and my music career, and I know I've caught the eye of the official Cort KZbin channel...so, I'm hoping that I can continue my musical journey full time and not have to worry about going back to the grind. I'm not a doctor or a lawyer, I don't even have a college degree lol. I just love music and guitar. I'm not married, no girlfriend, and no car, since I'm in the city...so there's a lot of expensive things which I'm not doing lol! I sell a lot of guitars too, and try to buy at good prices so I usually make a few bucks on trades or when I sell something, and all the money I've already invested goes back into the hobby. I'm getting ready to sell a lot of guitars, and I'm thinking about moving next year sometime. I sold one of my Martin's to get the Maestro. 🎸🎶🤝✌

Ive owned a couple of Taylor guitar. Very nice playing and well constructed. I have to admit, I’m bothered by the tongue and groove neck joint. Even though it’s reputed to be stronger, it just looks cheesy to me, and lesser quality guitars put a neck joint there. Obviously, it saves Taylor money on not having to carve a neck out of one chuck of wood. I would buy another Taylor but, it would have to have a one piece neck.

Althought the Taylor guitar I bought was the bottom of the line 110 (sans pickup) I really distressed me that I had to use it to trade up for a higher guitar on the pecking order of acoustics. I returned to the store I traded up (Guitar Center) with intentions of buying the 110 back. Overnight G C had raised the price to twice the price I bought it to $748.00. The 110 (unamped) must be out of production. Whatta dumass I was for trading it with no prospects of finding another. It had a laminated sides and back but held it's own at our Bluegrass club jam sessions. Did the Taylor 114 replace the 110?

I’ll never trade a guitar in at GC again. I think the ‘14s did replace the 10s. I bought the 214ce for a truck guitar. Figured the laminate back and sides would hold up better

Good Afternoon Sweetwater...I have a Question. I went to Guitar Center and played a Taylor 214 CE DLX. The guitar cost was 1933.00. I loved the sound and really wanted to buy the guitar but the sales person gave me th e PROS and CONS of the guitar. He told me the only thing wrong with this guitar was the top was solid wood but the sides and back was Laminate and it would not age well....What does that mean....? Help me.
@glorioskiola
@glorioskiola 3 жыл бұрын
He wants you to buy a more expensive guitar. (Technically, laminate can delaminate. I can tell you that I have a 52 year old Yamaha guitar, a cheap one, with laminate back and sides and it’s still in great condition.)

Hi, Al. That guitar does have a solid top with laminate back and sides, so that much is correct. When people talk about a guitar aging, they're typically referring to the process of over time the wood drying out more, which in turn allows it to resonate even more. For this reason, many people will say that a guitar gets better sounding the longer you own it. In the case of a laminate guitar, that process doesn't really happen but that doesn't mean the guitar isn't aging well. It just means that it isn't really aging at all. That being said, if the top of the guitar is solid wood then it is still going to experience this aging process to a degree. The top is the most important part of the guitar to the overall sound since it is where the majority of sound waves comes from. That is why many guitar companies will still put a solid top on their more budget friendly options. In other words, since the guitar has a solid top, it will still experience some degree of this aging process, and certainly won't ever sound worse than the day you bought it. Hope this helps. I’m curious did Taylor the guitar company pay James Taylor for launching the brand about the time he’s at the top in terms of popularity? I can’t imagine anyone being able to launch a Woods brand of golf equipment in the last 25 years without paying Tiger even if his family name is also Woods. If it was a tractor there would be no problem, but a folk/acoustic guitar?

The finish of the 100, academic,GS mini,baby Taylor, and big baby Taylor are a realy sheet. You can scrash it with your finger nael. And those series are not chep at all. I wish if they can fix that problem cus it is a problem for a instrument of that amunt of money.

Powers is rather sinister, no? I don't know if that's good or bad. We don't like his measurement system (thousandths and such). Obviously, a guitar expands/contracts WAY WAY more than what Powers says. A reasonable coefficient of thermal expansion across dissimilar materials that are joined is what matters. If the coefficient of expansion is too dissimilar, warping results.
