Loved every minute of this! As a 10 year old girl in 1957 who wanted to play drums, I was told no, you can have a piano. So I studied piano for years. But all I ever heard in songs and in concerts was the drums. In 2014, after finishing radiation treatment for breast cancer, I decided if not now, when. As luck would have it, a School of Rock was opening in my neighborhood and was taking adult students. In a week, I bought a DDrum kit for $400 and had lessons lined up. I found out that I was naturally in the pocket. Within months, I was in the adult performance group and in the following 4+ years played at venues around the city. It took me 57 years to do this. It is never too late. I will not be what I could have been had I started earlier, but it is still a hell of a lot of fun. I am now 72 and still playing as much as I can, even though I am no longer in a band. (Fell last year, broke my hand, took a long time to heal, played with one hand for awhile, got replaced, blah blah blah.) Thank you for this great interview, masterclass, whatever you call it! Great interview, great stories, sad for him to leave so soon. He was our neighbor when my son Ian Harrower was in grade school. We lived on Mountain View Drive in Laguna Beach. Every day after school, my son would walk home, and Taylor would be in his garage playing drums (circa 1985-86), and he would stop and listen for awhile. When I first started learning how to play the drums my teacher told me the drums are one of the easiest instruments to pick up but one of the hardest to master and that's just playing on your own. If you are playing in a band it becomes far more difficult. Unless people play instruments themselves most people overlook the drummer because they are often overlooked by the guitarists or whatever.

I started to listen to them only last year, in the second half of March during a hard time for my family, Walk was always in my ears... "Learning to walk again, I believe I've waited long enough"... I truly had some relief watching their videos and even had fun given the circumstances. I also tried to play drums, totally spellbound by Taylor's drumming style but had to quit. Watching his smile now hurts... Thank you Taylor for healing my soul with the power of your drumming. I feel lost like many others today, i guess we'll find a way to walk again.

Every time he plays just a little groove, it’s so tight. You don’t want him to stop, because even the simplest beat he plays sounds like a masterpiece. What a musician, what a man, what a fan (Queen etc). Love you forever, Taylor! The Foos are never going to be the same again without you. They will never rock as hard!

I never followed Taylor's career. But, it's evident from this interview that he'd done his homework to attain his level of musicianship. There are some tunes I heard in this interview, which he recorded in the studio, that I really appreciated for their creative energetic feel. R.I.P. brother drummer. The Foo as well as Taylor will always hold a special place as being my first ever concert.

Anyone that stating Taylor is “ nothing special” “or really not that good” should try do tours playing that 3 hours show with that power, drive& feel ... 99% will die or sound weak at the end of the show. I have played pro as a Rock, Fusion& Jazz drummer for 40 years and i recognize a exceptional drummer when i hear& see them Taylor is a beast ( & the Foo’s are one the few remaining Rock bands that have great songs and know how to fire it up)

What he did do was pay for a used 300.00 cheap kit, and he also paid for my weekly drum lessons. He told me "if you are going to to this, you are going to do it right, and not pick up any bad habits." I will be eternally grateful for his wisdom.
