Seeing the cost of dogs these days is insane, I bought my purebred rough collie as a puppy about five and a half years ago for $1100CAD and I thought that was fair. Nowadays I'm seeing puppies of various breeds going for $5k+. Maybe covid had people adopting more dogs or something?

Jesus Christ $2900 for an "adoption fee"? I guessed maybe 500-700 but id be curious to know what that "rescue's" business model is. Sounds like a puppy mill operation unless they are just a middleman between buyers and breeders. Buying from a breeder has such a stigma these days people create a "rescue" to buy dogs from breeders to flip them to people who dont want to go to a breeder.

I think it depends on the breed - I paid a lot for my retriever because poorly bred retrievers have a range of health issues . (glad to see your dog is still alive and well:))

Large dogs often times don't live past 8 years old. And they're prone to a bunch of health problems, some that could kill them, others that may require surgery, regardless of how well they're bred. Spending that much money on that sort of dog sounds like a bad idea. For someone who isn't rich, anyway.

I just pick up a puppy off the street and get them vaccined. I have two 15 year old mutts that have never gotten sick. Other than accidents and getting them fixed (Both females so you have too before they start getting invections).

So much simpler than all these adoption agencies that require fosters, training, home inspections before they even let you see the dog. Adoption is a great concept but the places treat you like you're interviewing for a job over adopting a dog. Especially for first time dog parents.

I got my toy poodle 2 years ago online. I'm sorry I forgot which site. The seller only took PayPal & I don't use PayPal. The seller trusted that I had the $1100. in cash which I did. $300. of the $1100. was delivery right to my door & I tipped the 2 delivery men $50. each. $1200. total . The delivery men were very big tough looking men they reminded me of mob hit men. LoL They guy holding my 8 week old poodle looked so cute being so big & tough looking cuddling my puppy. LoL She's absolutely perfect for me & is my shadow with me 24/7. Shes exactly what I wanted even better then I expected. Just got a free kitten from a neighbor & they both get along real well & keep each other company playing together. Good Luck Taylor I hope you find the perfect dog for you.
