Taylor Shaull - In Spanish Dreams (Original Song)

In Spanish Dreams is an original song I wrote during college and later transformed into one of my first recordings as a multi-instrumentalist. Originally composed for an orchestration class, the track began as a piano piece accompanied by a string quintet. You can still hear elements of the original orchestration woven into the chorus.
Over time, this song became a turning point in my growth as a musician and recording engineer. Here’s how it all came together:
🎵 Written at age 20 for an orchestration class.
🎸 Recorded a few years later after teaching myself bass, guitar, and drums while working at Menchey Music store.
🎤 Recorded on an iMac using a Neve-style preamp I built myself, with an Eagles-style acoustic guitar riff, Fender Jazz Bass, Moog Taurus synth, Yamaha electronic drums, a Fender Strat through a Blues Jr. tube amp I heavily modified, and vocals painstakingly layered into two choirs.
The dreamy, nostalgic vibe reflects where I was at the time-using music to create my own little world.
