Not a movie theater employee, but as someone who plans to go to the movie theater to see other movies while the Eras Tour is in theaters, all I want and hope for is that the fellow swifties in my area are respectful enough to not scream so that I and other moviegoers can’t enjoy our own movies. All those people saying to treat this exactly like they’re in the stadium are so incredibly selfish, it’s depressing. So sad to see how much it’s been normalized to not have the most basic, common empathy

Going to the movies is the one entertainment we have in our small town. My husband and I go almost every weekend. It’s only $24 for a refill popcorn bucket, 2 tickets, 2 large drinks and a pack of candy. $19 without candy. We also get a bogo movie ticket every month. This is at an AMC theater. A no frills amc. And no we aren’t seniors. 😂😂😂 I am dreading my the eras movie. I live in a college town. So it’s going to be terrible. The only good thing is, my husband and I go the earliest time possible. Healthcare is a shitshow. I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 22 years old. It literally took 7 doctors and countless doctor's visits to have my uterus removed. I was told many times "well what if you want to have kids?" I've never considered having kids, and the ONLY reason they finally consented to the hysterectomy was because I was a very high risk for uterine cancer thanks to the fibroids that I have been dealing with since I was 19 years old. I've been dealing with pain due to my period since I was 16. I was NEVER listened to. Never given any good options. It was always -- we'll give you birth control to deal with the heavy bleeding and pain, but then the birth control fucked me up. I do not believe in the America Health System. I do not trust it. I refuse to deal with doctors unless I have NO OTHER CHOICE. It sucks.

Being a woman under the health system in this country is a special kind of exercise in patronization and condescension. Like, we're smart enough to seek medical health but of course we can't possibly know what we want to happen to our bodies, and can't be trusted
@tearainey1 Жыл бұрын
I have several health problems that arise due to endometriosis flare ups, the inflammation causes extreme pain that can cripple me for up to several weeks on the worst bouts. I have tried to speak to my primary several times about how it's making my life difficult and painful day in and day out to the point where I just can't bring myself to care about living anymore, because I know the next day will just hurt too. And the responses I get are that I'm on birth control (I don't have a period anymore unless I miss a dose) and that's the end of how they want to treat it because I'm not in the ER every week. Like, what??? I can't AFFORD the ER when my pain is unmanageable, but even if I could they're not going to treat me. They have a rule about not offering pain management due to abuse. I've gone several times due to severe right sided pain and had the tests and the cat scans and all they'll tell me is that the endo is probably infiltrating my appendix causing the pain when inflammation occurs, but they won't do anything about it. They tell me to leave at that point because there's "nothing to be done". Despite the pain so severe I'm throwing up and unable to walk straight. One doctor even said it's likely infiltrating my nerves which is why I can't walk when I do have a period (old back injury and then endo interference is my guess). Their response? Take your birth control and tylenol, don't bother us. I absolutely hate the american healthcare system, but I'm also to the point where I hate doctors. The last time I went to the ER with crippling pain the dr handed me pamphlets on how to get pregnant because that 'cures' endometriosis. I felt so utterly dirty and disgusted after that I never have gone back to an ER if I can rationalize endometriosis as the cause for something.
@FayMew Жыл бұрын
Which is why I'm actually happy to live next to the local ER, and the best ER I've visited for painful situations yet (a nurse gave me a Pepsi because it took 3h to put a needle in my arm, countless bruising, but I got morphine like directly)...the city I moved in has one of the best endometriosis-focused hospital, and I really get the feeling that my doctors are finally listening and believing, after years of suffering, surgery is now on the table even tho I don't have children and am 23. I feel like healthcare workers in my family are the only ones making me feel bad and guilty about wanting out of this situation, about not going to work when I can't stand up and not wanting to endure pain or take pain meds every damm day... I feel you both, and I hope it gets better for us one day.

They said it was too fast so to calm down and they'll get to me. He came back and told me to hang on and went back and told them I have a bleeding issue and if she can't hold it anymore she could give birth and bleed out. They said yeah fine one minute and took 20 mins. The head was already out with the umbilical cord around her throat and I was bleeding terribly. Almost needed a transfusion to control the bleeding and they wouldn't allow my husband to cut the umbilical cord. Ignored and treated like burdens the whole time. It could've cost me and my daughter's lives! Talked to some other mothers in the wing and it was clear the minorites received the garbage treatment, including one that actually worked at the hospital. It was shocking and appalling. For me it's the opposite. The concert screenings were people just sat and watched were so underwhelming. I'm no teenager but 48 btw. What I'd be most concerned about with an "Eras Experience" at the theatre would be the lack of security. @Snipergoat1 Жыл бұрын
Unless the nurse somehow violated standard practices, there is no reason for her to "get" anything. She delayed what she thought would be an ill advised anesthetic. She even gave it to you despite her qualms. Should a birthing complication arise related to the epidural would you just say "Well I was warned?" I suspect not. As for what ever your second issue was if the symptom you were presenting looked a lot like normal menstrual issues even if not normal for you it could have easily slipped under the radar. I hear getting a female doctor can be helpful in that regard. There is another possibly which could tie both things together. Do you have a history of drug use or specifically drug seeking behavior? You should be able to find this in your record. A note on such behaviors are going to make doctors, nurses etc. very hesitant to assign even some common painkillers. Drug seekers have been known to go to outlandish lengths to get those sweet sweet opioids (Not the soul aim of such behavior but a very popular one) Look for it even if you are squeaky clean in that department. It is unlikely but false positives happen on any kind of screening or test and you may have run afoul of one of these. I have no idea how to get something like that expunged from your record but at least you have a potential source of the issue. Oh and feel free to leave of course but you are unlikely to find other places better. They trade in some costs but then gain longer wait times and doctors that are often even more parsimonious with the meds. Every place is a bit different but that is the general trend. Trade off are always going to happen and you can't assume a better outcome simply because of a different payment plan.

My endometriosis wasn't officially diagnosed for years because my symptoms were pushed off as being a muscle pull (those don't usually last years). And even after I had the scans done before my eventual surgery, my doctor skipped town and went golfing. It was like pulling teeth to get anyone to read me my results. The doctor then didn't get the ball rolling on surgery to solidify that yes it was endometriosis and not ovarian cancer. So then I had to switch doctors. Which ultimately further delayed the surgery. It was good to find a good doctor but there are many with a poor bedside manner.

I relate to this. I've always had really bad periods and I had an OBGyn suspect endo when I was 12 but my mom refused treatment for some reason. I was later put on birth control which helped a little. Suddenly 2.5 years ago now, I started having a wide range of symptoms, making it hard to work, and the process for being diagnosed has been like pulling teeth. I have to know what tests I want, what I'm suspecting, and what specialist I want to see, and even then, I have to comprise with whatever the doctors think is best. I finally brought up my suspected endo and it turns out 90% of my symptoms could be explained with endo. I'm 27 now. I'm so angry this was missed for so long and now I'm fighting to even see a specialist because no one thinks doing a lap is worth apparently, even though you can end up with permanent damage going this long without intervention. I've been so sick for so long, and the lack of concern is depressing. So far, I've seen 3 GPs and 4 specialists, and they all seem to just want me out of their office. Edit to add: It's even more saddening to know that at 2.5 years, I'm still well below the average time it takes for a diagnosis. I hope this is it and I can have the surgery but I'm so sorry for everyone else who's dealing with this. It's unacceptable.

I’d have preferred that to the absolute chaos of my first born. My own doctor had to go home as he’d been there 36 hours. The female Hispanic doctor decided she wasn’t going to follow my birth plan and was determined I was going to have a natural birth with my 10 lb baby. After 20 hours in hospital and 5 pushing, I was so exhausted I was passing out between contractions so she grabbed the forceps. That was NOT going to happen. She had kicked my family out of the room because they were protesting her treatment of me. So I just started kicking her whenever she’d try and use the forceps. After about 15 minutes of this she gave in and we did the epidural and c section. My daughter was bright blue because she was stuck in her shoulders. The doctor who performed the c section said she’d never have come out of my pelvis. We could have both died! My ob/GYN filed a complaint about her. I have no idea what happened with that but he was furious.

On the subject of maternity care: As a woman who works in the field, the drought of coverage is heartbreaking. We have women travelling 3-4 hours round trip because there is just no care for them near home. Rural areas are suffering from lack of coverage. With those rural limitations, I would like people to understand one often over looked fact: in a city, a mother/fetus in distress can be in the OR for c-section in minutes. In my rural town, it's going to be an hour before you have anesthesiologist, the doctor, the techs, and the room ready. An hour. For a fetus or mother in distress, that hour will likely be fatal. So, yes, for your safety and that of your child, rural doctors are forced to do c-sections earlier than city doctors. It isnt a preference, it's an effort to protect the safety of patients. This may not be true in all instances, obviously, but it is a factor that many overlook when they are less than pleased with their delivery experience. Be safe, ladies!

As a kpop fan that has been to several concert movies, crowds can be mixed as to: sitting vs standing/ dancing, quiet vs signing, movie etiquette vs concert etiquette. When I have been it was less than 50% following concert etiquette and they typically weren’t screaming because they understood that the artists on screen can’t hear them. It did make it more of a group experience since we all can’t go to Korea to see the concerts in person. Swifties are more mainstream and so they may feel more confident to follow concert etiquette instead of movie etiquette. Theatres do have some control of which theatre the movie can be in. If they are worried about complaints from other movie goers it might be a better business decision to leave an empty theatre next to the Eras Tour as an additional soundproof.

There is a concert experience in Japan called Live Viewing, where you watch the concert at a theater instead of the actual concert location (since you didn't get a ticket). So if it "is" an actual taped concert, it feels natural to sing along and do calls... But then again, I had never seen how "rowdy" these Swifties are. So Taylor Swift can actually KILL the whole Live Viewing culture in America, or they will make it work, and others can do the same...

Capitalism will guarantee it's a complete mess. Why? Because the theater owners aren't masters of their craft. They're just rich morons looking for more money. They don't understand the dynamics of live viewing. They aren't paying attention to what's happening in Japan. They aren't planning for a noisy crowd. They aren't analyzing what concerts do to deal with people. They're just going to go on operating as normal. Most will very likely run it like a normal movie hoping to just make bank all day while it plays, get lots of backlash because it'll be a noisy mess all day, and then blame the fans for their complete and utter lack of skill with managing crowds of excited people. The skilled laborers are not the ones making the decisions in capitalism, it's the capital owners, not the laborers with experience or even people in the same field of knowledge. Yet people _constantly_ insist capitalism is the best system for making decisions... Pretty clear most people don't understand what they're talking about.

Kinda surprised you didn’t mention another thing Spotify has been doing with their in-house podcasts in an attempt to make their podcast business profitable: they’ve started to put them on to other services like Apple Podcasts in an effort to expand their reach, which is effectively them waving the white flag on making shows that only exist on their platform or buying up exclusivity deals to lockdown shows to their platform because while Spotify may be the biggest player in podcasts, making exclusive shows just cuts off the potential or a huge chunk of the existing audience, especially when podcast creators and networks are seeing more downloads on Apple Podcasts (which was the previous big player in podcast distribution before Spotify ramped up their efforts) than Spotify (though that might be in part due to Apple having automatic downloads turned on by default).

As someone who has seen some concert/docu movies from BTS I say theaters better plan for this in the future. You gotta understand that concerning the prices for real concerts and tbe fact that huge musical acts only tour the same places and leave everyone else starving, a lot of folks will not be able to attend concerts. The movie screening is the nearest thing you will get to a concert experience and people are not gonna sit there neatly and without saying anything like in other movies. Solution could be to have special days for these concert movies, where normal movies are not screened that day and to invest in soundproofing (only helps so much, as you will still have vibrations). After all this is a great possibility for theaters to earn more money, and we know many are struggling.

And I'd like to point out, more predict I guess, that each screening of that movie is going to be a goddamn mother fucking mess. Those screens are going to be way way way worse than a big kids movie release during the school holidays. The audience are all going to adults at most teenagers at minimum, they know better. Jesus Christ. And from my experience it's usually one/two cleaning a screen, three for a big holiday release. We still sing and dance and shout though through screenings, but other than that we try to be polite to staff etc. I think there should be certain special times for these kind of screenings in which no other movies are shown, so we don't need to interrupt others. As fans we even go with crazy times like early in the morning or late into the night. One gotta be aware that these screenings at cinemas are the only thing many folks, especially young ones can afford at all, as concerts themselves have gotten incredibly expensive to the point of tickets costing as much as our rent. Receiving stitches during a episiotomy is often called the "husband's stitch" or the "daddy stitch". I heard about this a couple years ago while I was seeing news of maternity care and potential doctor abuse. It's an extra stitch which tightens the vaginal opening, and in some case cases vaginal pain. But the controversies I had heard were doctors doing it without consent or (worse) mentioning it to the husband "in passing" as kind of an off consent (which it definitely is not). It can be classified as malpractice if done without consent. It's difficult to remain positive when this seems to continually happen among the professionals who are trained and taught to help and heal.
@aggravatedHart Жыл бұрын
It’s all a lie. They teach them many things that are wrong and unethical. The stitches aren’t even the worst thing they do to women. They literally sexually assault women while unconscious during surgical procedures. They actually still train doctors, techs and nurses this way to this day. They never have consent. They never tell the women. They just line them up and sexually assault you one after the other. It’s even been proven to be the opposite of helpful to teach pelvic exams but they want to continue to harm women. Look it up. It’s true.
@AdaireKrickets Жыл бұрын
To clarify, it just causes pain during sex. The opening of the Vagina needs to be able to stretch to accommodate the partner. That stitch doesn't allow the stretch needed and forces the body to take usual shapes. It should just be illegal. There are no benefits to the husband stitch, but it does cause a ton of complications with healing, sex and birth after.

But the same thing out of the mouth of a husband is taken seriously. I've been tempted to take my husband with me for this exact reason. I have had pain for years now that doctors just tell me are nothing and no one takes seriously. It's seriously the most frustrating system. I gave up on my pain problem. One day, they will tell me I have cysts and that's why I can't have children, and I'll be like "I've been telling you this for years!"

As someone who works in a movie theater...there arent a lot of products coming out at that time. So more than likely the theater next to the Taylor Swift concert will ALSO be the Taylor Swift concert either ahead of or behind the one you are watching. Honestly as long as you are being respectful in the hallways & lobby it should be fine. October this year, more than ever, is kind of dead month profit wise. The studios are holding a lot of their movies because by this time next year they will have nothing to release. We are having to add more showtimes each day just for TS. if there r other movies releasing that weekend they will most likely either move their release date or were already expecting a hohum release. Horror is the only genre that does well during the school year btw. Just be kind to the floor employees and managers because most theaters are at half staff during the school semester. So we werent expecting to need to hire and train for this influx of guests. Luckily we got enough of a heads up to order stock. Trust that in a lot of places staff will be reping TS just as much as the ones watching the movie.

Taylor knows how crazy and unreasonable her fans are. She knows what she’s doing when she encourages them to act like this. She profits off of the way her crazy and honestly stupid fandom keeps her in the news cycle. She’s actively encouraging poor behavior just like she passively encourages fans to support fast fashion brands that hurt the environment by not speaking out about how bad the concert outfit trend was when it led to fans buying sometimes multiple cheap garments made of literal plastic. Her words can single-handedly make waves and she consistently chooses to use (or strategically not use) them to benefit her and only her. And the crazy thing is her fans who should be old and intelligent enough to think critically and see these issues either don’t use that critical thinking or choose to ignore her problematic behavior

Wow! That is one of the most butthurt comments on the internet. Taylor Swift's fans making bracelets is not hurting the environment anymore than the rest of us are. I don't know how you can talk about Taylor Swift fans having a little joy in their life when oil executives every time they masturbate they do so with dinosaur juice. How exactly are her fans crazy and unreasonable? Has there been any riots at any of the concerts? No. Has there been any major property damage. No, there hasn't. In fact, Taylor Swift concerts bring huge money into the downtown areas of a lot of cities that still are trying to recover from shut down during covet. I don't understand why a bunch of people having fun enjoying an entertainer they like has absolutely anything to do with you that you need to put such angry vitriol on the internet. I don't like Taylor Swift that much. Some of her songs are okay. If they come on the radio I'll jam to them. But I don't hate on people just because they like things I don't.
