But if she willingly got with a guy who was in a relationship, she should have known she wasn’t the one. I honestly think all of these characters were at fault in a way, just not as much as another (James first, August second, and Betty last).

This is EXACTLY how I pictured the folklore love triangle between Betty, James, & Augustine. I love how Betty actually wore a cardigan throughout the film. And how all the small details from the song August, cardigan, Betty all align, like the boy dancing with Betty, or the car that Augustine drives to pick up James.

This is so beautiful. What I loved about this trilogy on the album was that August isn't framed as a villain, she's just also a teenage girl with her own hopes and dreams, and your film beautifully reflected that. Also a perfect ending XD

My thoughts as they came: - oh this is inspired by All Too Well and I LOVE it - the cardigan! - THERE'S A MIRRORBALL - SHE PULLED UP IN A CAR AND SAID 'GET IN THE CAR!' - the stars! - oh my gosh I love how James' POV switched between the two girls! - hehe the ending!!! - the credits 🥰 Sophia, this awesome! I'm not just saying that - this is such a well-made film and you are super talented. Thank you so much for sharing and visualising what we all daydream about (because, let's be real, who doesn't listen to august or betty and have the entire thing play out in their head). I hope Taylor sees this because DAMN it's such a love letter to her music, film-making and Easter egg-ing. Don't stop making movies - I think you could go a long way! xx

it’s actually a perfect retelling of this love triangle we’ve been told about through song. at first I was like “this needs to be longer it won’t work in just six minutes!” but it did, it really did. the cinematography and set dressing was so stunning and the choice of including the song within the film to do most of the dialogue was really smart. overall I loved this and can’t wait to see where everyone involved goes from here!!

OH. MY. GOSH! From one film school gurly to another, allow me to praise this film forever! I absolutely loved it!!! The way the music and lyrics correspond so well to the visuals without making it too on-the-nose. The subtle Swift-hints troughout like the mirrorball, the evermore-inspired flannel, Shake It Off playing in the background, the All Too Well-inspired chapters and stopping the music briefly halfway through. The actors really conveying the subtle emotions so well. The parallels between Betty and Augustine such as their cardigan/sweater, the matcing hairbows. The matchcuts and transitions. The clever framing and utilizing the surroundings and extras so everything looks authentic and real. The production value. The vibes and aesthetic that perfectly encapsulates high school and summer, very dreamy and almost surreal but still grounded. The lightning, the framing, the colours. The girls changing the narrative and getting revenge on James at the end. This movie was amazing, and I also cried a little bit troughout, I must admit. Sophia, this is the music video that Betty deserved, and you are definetely going places! Sorry for the long comment btw:)

This is so incredible Sophia, you have yet again blown us all away. I loved seeing your interpretation of the song and it's relationships, it contains dynamics I hadn't thought of and it's really cool to see. Next, the colours and lights in this, wow! It's all a dreamy brighter colour that fits perfectly with this song, and the way the light is set in some scenes (i.e. 4:52) is just incredible. Lastly, the way you solve problems and make a quality film on a budget is astonishing. I especially liked the part at 3:40, it's a simple yet genius solution. This is a 10/10 short film.
