First thiing you *MUST* do when listening to _The Tortured Poets Department_ : *Do not compare this album to her previous works.* Swift specifically warned the album lacks the "glitter pen" sound of most of her previous work; a more valid comparison is the work of Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish, who sing with a much narrower vocal range and with a more "downbeat" tone.

The word “fair” has a few meanings. Here she is saying “all’s fair” and it means all that’s happened is acceptable for her to talk about whether the other person likes it or not. “I can talk about this and you can’t say that it is unfair/unacceptable or biased”. It comes from a phrase “all’s fair in love and war”. Does that help?

@@Tortured_Poet355 it’s very flat and unexciting and I think she’s relying on her snarky lyrics too much. It comes off narcissistic and not self-aware at times rather than satirical. All these songs sound the same rather than sounding like just the same style, which I appreciated in other albums of hers. I’m disappointed.

It’s true. She has not matured lyrically. I’ve spent so much money supporting and going to her concerts since I was a kid. She can do better for sure. I’m not going to pretend to like this album when I don’t. Her songs seem like draft versions and there was no effort in refining the lyrics.
