This reminds me of a childhood friend. We were as close as siblings and we went to each others houses like 8 days a week and always spent breaks together. I remember how he was a lord of the rings and star wars fan and was INCREDIBLY intelligent. I remember how he used to tell me endless little facts about ancient Egyptians and nature and while every one else would roll their eyes or laugh at his random bits of knowledge, I would always listen and ask questions. I remember at his house we would play with his Lego or we would climb trees and go off on a world of our own. I remember trying to teach him to draw and make paper cranes and play with these plastic dinosaurs that I kept in a big bucket. When I think about him I remember the smell of mango juice and freshly cut grass and upturned sand that we would play in for hours. I remember happiness. But sadly as we got older, we grew apart. I started hanging out with a different crowd. A crowd that tempted me to do things I would never have done if I was with him. A crowd that never treated me like he did. I met a guy who was part of that crowd. He was cool and funny and good looking. He told me he loved me and I believed him. I remember the first day we kissed and I remember having a nagging thought at the back of my mind about my freckly red haired childhood friend. It turned out that the guy I dated cheated on me and never actually liked me. I had thrown my first friend and my best friend out the window. My friend had found a girl who was very nice but had never been too fond of me. Now after almost a year I still miss him and wish I could go back in time and fix the pass. I miss being able to be myself and I miss being happy. I miss my best friend.

This song always makes me sad. In summer of 2018, we found out our Black Labrador had a tumor in his left front paw. It was around the size of a golfball. He had Lyme disease due to a tick bite and was in lots of pain. His name was Dakota. He was 7 years old. We celebrated his last birthday and made his final days the best we could. We had to put him down because he was in immense pain and had a limp. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with him before he was gone but we couldn't. When we put him down, I went into a deep depression. Along with all that pain with his loss, our family was moving to another state that was far away. I didn't want to leave because I thought his soul was still in that house and I wanted to stay with him. We still moved. That next year of school was horrible for me. I wouldn't talk to anybody and if they tried to talk I would just nod, shake my head, or shrug and sometimes leave. Everybody tried to help me but I couldn't deal with any of it. My mom made me go to therapy but the therapist couldn't get anything out of me. I wanted to die. I gained weight from closet eating and not getting any activity. I cried every day I got home from school that year. At the end of the school year, I finally started opening up. I became more comfortable and slowly got out of my depression. I still get depressed but it's not as bad and I recover faster. This song always makes me cry when I think of Dakota because I found this song during the time where he was in all that pain. I'm sorry about how long this was, I just needed to get it all off my chest. Thank you to those who read the entire thing.

So sorry for your loss... 😔 I'm sure he's looking down on you from doggy Heaven and I'm sure he's proud of you and he misses you too. 😊 Have to say this, but I also had a black lab named Dakota who I had to let go of a few months ago too. He was old and it was hard for him to get up the stairs (even with joint medication), so we had to put him down. My mom had me keep him in my room with me the whole day before we put him down, and at least I petted him sometimes while playing my Xbox I think (if I remember correctly). But once my parents called me out and said one of my siblings was there to take him to be put down I was crying. I also didn't want to let him go but I knew we had to and that it was his time. My mom allowed me and my two nephews and one niece to give him a treat before he left too I think. They also had to lead him out with treats too so he'd follow them and go to the car. Anyway, while typing this I was crying too. But at least I still have the collar they put on him that day. And whenever I think of him and get sad I grab the collar and hold it, which I am now (had to grab it in the middle of writing this). But yeah, I hope you're still doing better and who knows? Maybe our two dogs met each other in the afterlife! 😊

This reminds me of a few weeks ago when my school was having a dance and we were allowed to invite other people. I brought some of my friends and when we pulled into the school, there were some boys out in the parking lot -they were going inside- and when I caught eyes with one of them, I saw it was my crush who I had been dreaming every day about since I met him at my ex-crush's birthday party, the ones my friends called ugly and weird for me liking him. I told the friends I took to the dance that he was there and they made fun of me and said that they did know since they saw him a while ago. It really hurt. But I eventually caught his eyes again as I walked into the building and -before my unsupportive friends could stop me- went up and said "Hey, do you remember me?" He thought for a while, and then said, "Uhhh, yeah the girl I met at (best friend's name) birthday party, right?" I blushed and said, "Haha, yeah the awkward and annoying girl in the background." He laughed, then said, "Yeah, you uh, look older" I was really flattered and said, "Yeah you haven't changed." We both laughed but eventually, he ended up talking to his friends again. His mom had shown up and we talk and she was really nice, and I danced with my friends on the first round -this was old-timey country dancing, keep in mind- and I kept on waiting for him to ask me but he asked some other girl who he knew who wasn't even that pretty. I honestly felt like he was throwing it in my face a little and I kept on waiting and waiting until there were only two dances left and then, after crying in the bathroom, I asked him "Do you have anyone to dance with?" and almost immediately he said, "Sure" I was surprised, humored, and a little confused. The room we were in was really loud so I could see if he didn't understand me right and only heard "dance?" but I felt amazing, butterflies in the stomach, heart-pounding, ready to melt kind when we danced. It was a confusing dance but we had fun. On the ending round, we had to swing each other around like actual country dancing and it was fun. I'll never forget it, ever, and now that I have to write something for English class, I know what I'm going to write about. So be like my friends, call me stupid and love-sick, but even if I won't be seeing him soon, I just wish that I could see him again.
