You should definitely deep dive and one album at a time because she does concept albums. The songs are placed in a way she wants you to experience it. Some albums have songs that connect like on folklore Betty Cardigan and august connect. Loved watching you experience this album for the first time. Her music makes you think.

You should def do more Taylor! Even her older stuff has a LOT of mature themes and her storytelling has always been at this level, she just focused more on it these last two main albums (folklore and evermore). Def react to Evermore, the sister album to folklore, and maybe Red (Taylor’s Version)! She has to re-record her first 6 albums because of her past label being literal monsters and basically taking her masters out from under her feet, so she doesn’t own any music before her “lover” album. Speak Now as well is an amazing album and my fave. She wrote every single song on the standard edition (only one co-written song in the deluxe) due to multiple critics (specifically one she wrote “Mean” about) saying she couldn’t write any music and that she wasn’t a talented songwriter. She ended up winning Grammys for that album and it pushed her farther into the mainstream.

If you like/want more upbeat Taylor music I strongly recommend her 2017 album 'reputation' along with the reputation tour it's an amazing work. Taylor live performances always elevate the album versions. reputation is her album that was released after she got a lot of hate and got "internet cancelled" back in 2016. so reputation was her response to the haters. Also, 1989 is one of the most awarded pop albums of all time. Speak Now and Red are also great pop/country albums.

My tears ricochet is about her relationship with scott borchetta, the founder of her first record label. He discovered when she was 16 as literally his first artist, she's also the most successful one from that label. They were partners, Taylor trusted Scott with her career and life's work. Taylor tried to buy her first 6 albums masters but he apparently would only sell her each album for every future album she would make. She said no to that and walked away from her 6 albums, her life's work. When her contract expired, she decided to move labels, where she owns her masters. Scott sold his company, including her masters to Scooter, a known enemy of Taylor. She felt betrayed by Scott that he would do that, as he knew the enmity between Scooter and Taylor. And thought that he did it out of greed without consideration of her feelings. This is why she's now rerecording her first 6 albums.

@droptherecord64682 жыл бұрын
@@fwuffy1546 You might be a little surprised but Lover is actually my least favorite project from her -- The album seems to have been made quickly for it being her first album she owned .. (The Rat Scooter problem occurred while she was working on the album) The tracklist is long, I can easily scrape 7 songs that I don't see as important to put them in the album.. The lyrics are straightforward and childish,she is a legendary writer, the greatest of her generation and I'm sure she meant that because she's living a happy, rosy life with Joe. -- Overall there’s a lack of cohesiveness both musically & lyrically .. She talks about Calvin, then she jumps to talk about Joe, then politics, then she comes back to talk about Joe, and then she talks about music industry and the double standards it’s so messy for me Too many producers & you feel the instruments are just normal or demo But Lover was not mature enough when she released the album (30 years old). Look at the love songs she wrote about him.. they’re so beautiful Delicate, King Of My Heart, Call It What You Want .. in Lover some good songs are (Lover - Cruel Summer - Afterglow) Folklore & Evermore had the best honestly even though some are not about him but she wrote them while Joe in her mind

Any artist nowadays could give us Album like Lover but they’ll never give us her rest 8 album never Those 8 with taking consideration of her age in some works & being teenager are much much better than Lover
@fwuffy15462 жыл бұрын
@@droptherecord6468 While I agree with a lot of your points, I must say there is a lot about Lover that you’re missing. Yes, there are a few songs that have childish lyrics. ME!, YNTCD, IFTYE, ITHK (although I think the song is fantastic it can have some immature lyrics in parts), and The Man. But in all honesty I think Lover has some of her highest highs as well. Cruel Summer, Lover, The Archer, Afterglow, Daylight, Paper Rings, False God, DBATC. I consider them among her greatest creations. And they’re legendary for fans. So while I agree that as a whole Lover may perhaps be less cohesive and less lyrically interesting (and scraping off a few songs would definitely fix that although I personally like the whole album) the best songs on the album are in my opinion better than the best on 1989, reputation and Red (TV) (although to a certain extent when it comes to this one).

great reaction man, would love to see your reaction to folklore's sister album she released a couple of months later called "evermore". some background info on folklore tho: -cardigan, august and betty are a trilogy about a teenage love triangle, cardigan is from the pov of betty, "betty" is from the pov of james who cheated on betty during the summer, "august" is from the pov of the girl james cheated with. -my tears ricochet is about her former label, specifically the ceo of said label, scott borschetta who used her masters as a bargain chip to get her to sign with them again, and when she refused, he sold them to scooter braun. -seven is about a her childhood friend who lived in an abusive household. -mirrorball was written when she found out that her tour was cancelled bc of covid and how she felt she still had to be 'on' eventho she had an excuse to take a break. -theres also a bonus track called "the lakes" if you're interested in checking it out.

There's actually a made-up love triangle in this album between three teenagers: Betty, James, and Augustine! cardigan: From Betty's POV, reflecting on her relationship with James years later (In the folklore long pond studio sessions on disney+, Taylor herself confirmed this and said this is how she imagined it and that Betty and James eventually got back together.) august: Augustine is the girl that James cheated on Betty with. This song is from Augustine's POV reminiscing about her summer fling with James. Taylor said that she pictured the girl in august's name as Augusta or Augustine. betty: This is from James' POV as he apologizes to Betty. One of the significant lines that ties this song in with the love triangle is "She said James get in let's drive those days turned into nights slept next to her but I dreamt of you all summer long" ("she" being Augustine) referring to how they're affair started and that when James spent his nights next to Augustine, he was really thinking of Betty. I could go into so much more detail about the lyrics in these three songs that overlap but I'd be rambling on forever ahaha! If you're interested you could always look at a few threads on reddit. Also, the names James, Inez, and Betty are the names of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' kids whom she is very close friends with :)

Most of the songs in the album are fictional. Betty, cardigan and august are a trilogy that tells the story of a love triangle between 3 teenagers where James cheats on Betty with another girl. Betty is from James pov, august is from the other girl's pov and cardigan is from betty's pov after a few years. If you look in the lyrics you can see there are lots of parallels in the songs! She wrote both Folklore and Evermore (they are sister albums and basically Taylor said she just felt like she wanted to stay in the forest a bit longer and she had more to write hence Evermore) during quarantine. Her tour had been canceled and year upended and these masterpieces came from it. They were not planned albums and she surprised released both. She gave like a 1-2 day warning for both. Folklore and Evermore quickly grew on me and even though I live the super popular songs on the albums I tend to gravity towards the slept on songs and they are my favorites of the album. Seven is my favorite on the album and basically why she says “hit my peak at seven” is because of seeing the world through the eyes of a child and wonderful carelessness and innocence of a child, and expressing emotions with no filter
@BellaKat72 жыл бұрын
Actually Taylor says “I hit my peak at seven feet” because she is talking about swinging in a tree swing over a creek in Pennsylvania. This is so relatable bc so many kids in the country do this activity and it definitely gives off a nostalgic feeling right off in the song. Taylor does this quite a few times in her discography, where she will pause in the middle of a sentence only to finish it in the next line. It does cause confusion at times, like it did here. Hopefully knowing that will help to look out for it in the future. Great reaction!

Lovely reaction. This (and evermore) are not pop albums, but folk / indie. They aren’t going to be upbeat bangers, not really made for radio play, just to sit and listen to the lyrics and instrumentation. Red Taylor’s Version, for sure do that, it’s older about a decade but it’s fire, more upbeat. Its upbeat, followed by a slow song, up then down to mimic a rollercoaster that was a toxic relationship. Red is a mix of country and pop, there are a few bangers. These are fictional stories, for the most part. Invisible String, Peace, and the Lakes are about her and her boyfriend of 6 years Joe. My Tears Ricochet about her old record label who sold her masters, Last Great American Dynasty is about the woman Rebeka that used to live in the house Taylor bought, epiphany is about her grandfather at Guadalcanal as well as the Covid 1st responders, mad woman could be about Kim&Kanye West. Mirrorball about the music industry, seven about a childhood friend that had a bad home life. Betty, James, and Inez are named after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children. It’s a fictional teenage love triangle between Betty, cardigan, and August. She continues the fictional storyline on the evermore album with Dorothea and Tis the Damn Season.

Oho! Thankyou so much Manny for checking out one of the greatest albums of all time. 1.Where Taylor has always written songs that are inspired by her experiences in life, Folklore is an album where Taylor branched out. She,as the name suggests, wrote folk stories, about other people's experiences or people she made up from her imagination or people from novels or movies. 2. “I found myself not only writing my own stories, but also writing about or from the perspective of people I’ve never met, people I’ve known, or those I wish I hadn’t" said by Taylor. 3. Like the songs "cardigan, august, and Betty" explains a teenage love triangle with three POV's. Cardigan from Betty's perspective, August from other girl's perspective who James cheats with on Betty and Betty from James perspective. If you listen to these three songs carefully you will find that they are intertwined with each other. 4. Exile being almost like a conversation between two people who meet up months after their break up but both are still not ready to understand each other and why the relationship ended. 5.But there are still hints of her own life experiences in every song as well. 6. The last great american dynasty being about Rebecca being belittled by the society and being blamed for her husband's death but in the last chorus she turns it around and talks about how her own life is very similar to that of Rebecca and how the society shames her and belittle her for doing anything. 7. My tears ricochet is about her old label that sold her music, that she wrote by her self about her life, behind her back and was not given the chance to purchase it. She has been with her label from when she was 15,16. She was the first artist of the label and was the reason for their success and the CEO was like a father figure to her. She left the label and wrote this song and now she is re recording all her albums to re-own her music. She released 2 as of now. 8. Peace and Invisible string being about the relationship with her 6 year boyfriend. 9. This is me trying is about an addict who is is constantly trying to not pick up the bottle of whiskey. Every second is a constant battle for him to stay on the right track but it can also be about Taylor talking to her fans telling them that she is trying her best to keep us happy. 10. Mirrorball is about her being this shiny object that entertains the music industry and she will keep on trying to entertain no matter the circumstances. I like how you interpreted the songs in your own way and about your own life because that is the thing about Taylor's music. She has layers in her music and one song can be interpreted in so many ways. I believe that Taylor is one of the most greatest songwriters of our generation including Bts. Thankyou again and have a nice day❤
