Came to find why my TTPD pen wasn't writing, THANK YOU for showing me I needed to puncture the ink cartridge! Really appreciate your opinion on quality. I'm so glad that she offered this piece, it was the merch that I pictured as soon as she announced the album title. I loved the price point too 💕

You're so right. The price point was right. I'm thrilled that it might get more people in to fountain pens because they are the best!! Enjoy your pen!

The pen was likely made by Genius which is a company in Taiwan that usually makes pens for other people. The quality is usually higher than what Jinhao makes, but as you see, there are some quality control issues at times. The nib can be easily reseated straight on the feed. This is actually a very common issue with many fountain pens. I've seen it on Pelikans, Viscontis, Lamy, Kaweco, and many others, and it's usually relatively easy to correct. It's more common on pens with screw in nib units because when people screw them in, they are not careful and end up shoving the nib to the side on the feed. I don't see this issue as often with pens where the nib and feed are not in a threaded unit. You should be able to push the nib over, but it will take some slow and careful force because of the way the nib and feed are friction fit in the grip section. I would clean the pen first, then push the nib over with the side of your finger. Once it is aligned, there should not be any issues, but do make sure that the nib tines are still aligned. Like you, I do not like metal grip sections, but it is what it is. I would not be surprised if the nib is contained in a unit that screws into the metal grip section. I get why they went with brass because for people who don't know anything about pens, the quality plastic pens we like and use like the Prera feel "plastic" light and cheap. Even my Sailor Pro Gear Slim with a gold nib feels that way to some people. Many laypeople don't appreciate the light plastic pens until they are deeper in the hobby. I think for some people, the brass also gives a "vintage" vibe. I feel like this is a more "get you into the hobby" sort of pen. I know a lot of people who started out with metal pens in this hobby then went to the "good stuff" later. If you don't come from a family that uses fountain pens, the perception of pens is very different. We really live in a very special bubble, and for the random person buying stuff that looks cool, this thing probably hits more of the right spots. In my opinion, we need to get people curious first then we can get them on the bandwagon. These are valid pens to start with in my opinion For background, I do come from a family that uses fountain pens. My dad's side of the family does not. I also have a lot of friends who independently discovered fountain pens and this is the sort of stuff they get. I've been using them since I was a little girl, so the light plastic pens was what I was used to and could appreciate because I could see other people appreciating them. I used to be very perplexed why other people liked the heavy metal stuff. The air is very different if you or I are the ones introducing someone to pens. That said, I hope your daughter has some good pens to use. What does she enjoy now? I remember as a kid being able to get my first pen. It was very exciting!

@@Bunnyisms you're definitely right. I'm just not invested enough to fix the nib and feed as I know I won't really use this pen considering my other pens. But my daughter is loving it. Another thing that annoys me is that it came with one cartridge and people will struggle to find cartridges that fit this. I've tried all that I have around and none fit! I hope it gets more people into fountain pens, for sure. I'm going to do a follow up video soon about it. Taylor has divided up her songs into groups based on pens. She has 3 groups, Quill, Fountain pen, and glitter gel pen. Interesting! I believe she is personally a Montblanc person. My daughter loves to take her pens to school and get her friends interested. And she tries to steal any and every purple pen I own! I just got her a purple twsbi eco to use at home. :)

@@FountainPenNews it uses the Chinese type cartridge with the 2.6mm opening. Jinhao cartridges with that opening should fit it. Be careful. The Chinese cartridges come in two openings, 2.6mm and 3.4mm. The Jinhao slide converter should also work because it is slimmer. Just make sure it is the 2.6mm variety. I believe they offer both. The Kaweco mini converter will usually fit these as well. I also have a purple TWSBI Eco and I love it. Does she like the Kaweco sports? There are some limited purple ones but you have to keep your eyes open. I love the Kaweco sports also. There is also the Stabilo grow (on Cultpens) that has a purple center band (plum/cherrywood). I have one of those as well. It's a great pen for school. Another pen to look out for is the Jinhao Shark (version 2 with the Lamy style nib)
@FountainPenNews2 ай бұрын
Weirdly, the jinhao cartridges (either size) didn't fit. But standard Diamine cartridge fits! She may inherit my purple Goldspot kaweco someday!
@Bunnyisms2 ай бұрын
@@FountainPenNews That's good you could get an international cartridge to fit. The Jinhao 2.6mm size is often interchangeable with the international size cartridges, so they should work in many of the same pens. The connectors are close enough in size. There is at least one reviewer on KZbin who fit the slide type converter with the 2.6mm opening into their Taylor Swift pen

It‘s a pity that TS doesn’t care more about the product that goes out to her fans. Look at how cheap Jinhao 82s are or even a Lamy Safari. Instead her loyal fans are getting unusable crap. That’s just sad and annoying! Kids who’ve never had a fountain pen and who want to be like TS will be totally turned off by fountain pens after having a crappy experience. It angers me.

I don't think she doesn't care. I think she puts trust in her team. And merch is all about lowest cost. They were just trying to hit a certain price point. It would be nice to see something less of a commodity item.

Can you please tell of which company is this like from which company @taylorswift had tied up for these fountain pens 🖋️??

There is no way to tell. There is no other branding on the pen or the nib and there are many companies that manufacture pens.

@@FountainPenNews ohhh so is there like a company which is owned by Taylor Swifts which manufactures all these pens,guitars and merch ??
@FountainPenNews4 ай бұрын
@@tyagi2010atortured_swiftie no, she doesn't own the company. There are pen manufacturers and she buys the pens from them and has them do custom branding.

Thank you lol. I think she would have come out better with a Jane Davenport Collab - ! Of course a Benu collab would have caused quite a stir among the more seasoned fountain pen peeps. LOL I can't figure why these brass pens have so many issues (threads). I have a cute little brass and wood pocket pen that is just basically terrible because the threads are not right. :) This video is a public service lol.
