This is one of the most beatiful songs on the album

Based on Taylor’s own words, the song is about “The realization that maybe the only path to healing is to wish happiness on the one who took it away from you.” I don’t think it has anything to do with Scooter drama (there are lyrics about romantic relationship) and I don’t think it is personally about her. She is again telling a story of a 7yr relationship that needs closure and acceptance, doesn’t necessarily have to be her own.

Just like my tears ricochet,, it talks about a marriage comming to an end, she compares the ending of her relationship with Scott as a divorce because they were in each other’s life’s for 15years. I do believe both songs are about him. In MTR you can feel she’s mad and she’s going at him but now she sees everything with more clarity and admits that they both just each other and that the new her will be able to forgive him (she isn’t ready yet) and that he’s a good man that did something shitty. And she does this with layers to the songs, the first one is the relatable story of a marriage ending and the next is about her experience.

One of the best songs from evermore

This is all about finding yourself after the fallout and ending of a relationship.. moving on after time passes and being able to look back with a but more clarity instead of rage and anger. Like when a person goes through therapy to realize not everything about the person you are hurt by is completely evil, or a villain. True healing comes from also self reflection and awareness that the relationship did have good moments, and to let go and move on. It is not always easy, there are moments in healing you still get hurt and the hurt in you wishes hurt on the other (like in the second verse how she says I hope the next girl is a fool, no I don't mean that. I am just angry so I am aiming it at the next person in your life to take my spot)... happiness also feels like forgiveness and leaving it all behind.

this song has literary references from The Great Gatsby when she says that his next love will be a beautiful fool. Daisy wishes this of her daughter so that she won't know the hurt that this person is feeling, she won't understand or realize what that man is doing. So she wishes her daughter will be a beautiful fool so she won't be hurt and ruined by how life is. A lot of Taylor's lyrics reference literary masterpieces, from Bronte, FS Fitzgerald, to Hemingway, to Emily Dickinson. Her literary references are always hidden in her lyrics.

I read an interview with Aaron Dressner from The National and he was describing the process of writing Evermore. He says they were at his studio to film the Long Pond sessions video for Folklore and Taylor stayed on for a few extra days and just kept writing songs. He had a couple of pieces of music he’d written, but not set to lyrics. That is where Willow came from. And I think the other one was ‘Tis the Damn Season. He said he was just blown away by her and that they will DEFINITELY collaborate again.

This is the last song she wrote for the album; a week before it was released and Aaron was worried it wouldn’t be enough time to mix properly but they managed to. This is a follow up to My Tears Ricochet and her relationship with her old record label. In some ways I feel the writing to this album is much more advanced than Folklore but in some ways it makes sense since she’d been working with the same team for this adventure too. I can’t pick a favorite from either album or all songs but I feel this was her releasing all the pain she’s gone through in her personal and professional life due to Kim/Kanye and the sale of her masters and the public persona the media created for her. Hope that helps 😁

I will just add something to this .... The 7yrs I think this span is Taylor reinventing herself through country to pop to alt. When she goes from Pop it was released 2014 and most of the swifties assumed that maybe when Taylor plans on moving from Pop was 2013-2014(7yrs ago) I think it was also in the headline that her record label was so scared because there's so many Pop star/artist that will outshined her, but she still pushed it through.

I remember her saying (please, correct me if I'm wrong) that there are some 'folklore' references on 'evermore' and one of them is 'seven'. She sings of being in the trees and hitting peak at seven. And here she sings of being above the trees and seven years in heaven. Not sure how this could be related but I think that it's the reference she talked about. Also, when I listened to it for the first time I felt like it was about a ghost, with 'being above the trees' and the 'new me' (since the old one died)... I don't know, it felt like it was Estes point of view after she died. And I know she talked about this specific song and how it's about relationship ending and all, but this was my initial reaction to it. :)

I don't think this is about her old record label or Scooter Braun at all. I think this is about a relationship that lasted seven years and was a loving, giving, relationship between two people. The lyrics "I pulled your body into mine every goddamn night now I get fake niceties" is about a sexual relationship. This is about a couple that was loving and happy on all levels. But, for what ever reasons, they drifted apart. What I LOVE about this song is it's honesty about the death of a relationship and not pointing fingers at either party.
@brucebrown38373 жыл бұрын
... why do people have to try and reach and try to connect every single song of hers to something? Can't she just write a damn song?
@123bkthayer3 жыл бұрын
@@brucebrown3837 I believe you answered your own question; to be human is to make connections. If no connection is made, then they are just words strung together with no meaning.
@devikamittal87983 жыл бұрын
@@brucebrown3837 The point of the lyrics of a song is to provide a connection to our own lives, emotions, and experiences. The meaning of a song allows us to appreciate it better, and see it for what it is. It’s different than trying to relate it back to Taylor’s life, and figuring out the drama that led to that, because that typically devalues the song by putting her reaction to the situation up for scrutiny. Connecting the meaning to ourselves however separates the artist from the art, and brings the art closer with the audience, which is indeed the purpose of art. :)

This is definitely a continuous to My Tears Ricochet which is about her old record label. I think the line "7 years in heaven" means her being fully supported with her previous label for 7 years before she went Pop where she felt her label was starting to not really supporting her fully until the time arrived where she finally left the record label.
