This may be a book but it actually hits home for many out there. Trauma is real and it goes on from generation to generation . We have to reach out and break the patterns. Heal wounds. I saw the movie and now I'll read the book, I drove home crying and I had no idea why.

I cried so hard at the end of this movie. I remember the day I decided to leave my toxic marriage because of my daughters. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do but I refused to let that take us out. I was dying inside and I knew it was best for everyone. Broken and scared I left. And my love Atlas (Chris for me) from my middle school days came back and found me this year! Good endings really do happen! Thank you God for your good plans after so much pain and heartbreak. ❤

The movie has evoked some past memories of how my dad was physical and emotionally abusing my mum including us his daughters. After 20 years of marriage my mum gathered the strength to leave. It's now 10 years since they separated, the whole experience changed me but I pray that it ended with my mum. I am not yet married nor am I dating....I always fear what if I make a mistake and the pattern repeats itself. I have loved before but my relationships never work out.... recently I have become aware I carry with me what I went through as a young girl. A day at a time and this will just be memories and not trigger me into sadness fear or anger.

I‘ve read the 2 books and saw the movie today. Awesome ❤️❤️❤️ made me tear up the scene when Lilly felt the baby kick and Ryle wanted to touch her tummy so much. I felt the sadness and longing that I actually felt sorry for Ryle. Or I‘m just being emotional because I am pregnant 🙈 I‘m glad I wasn’t in Lilly’s situation and I pray that every women won’t have to go through what she had. Happy I get to share my pregnancy and these special moments with my partner.

The father of my two children was physically and emotionally abusive not only to me but my children. We were married 16 years. I had no idea what my children were subjected to while working and they were alone with their dad. When he got involved in a religious cult the situation worsened to the point where I feared for our lives. After hitting me and my son I told him to get out and he needed to get help if he wanted to keep his family together. He refused, staked me for months, I agreed to meet with him (big mistake) and he flew into a rage, chocked me until I lost consciousness. Prior to chocking me he told me he was going to kill our children too. When I came to, he was sobbing. I fought back and told him to get off me! My husband was 6'2" 185 lbs and I am 5'3" (distance runner at the time) weighing 110 lbs. He committed suicide three days later at the age of 36. My daughter married an abuser as well (policeman) and he beat and abused her. I did not stop being there for her and she left him when her daughter was 18 months old. It finally ended with us when she remarried a wonderful man who is the love of her life. My son is a wonderful loving husband and dad, and he never abuses his family (married 23 years).

Should I read the book that this movie is based off of? I've heard it's based on a book written by Colleen Hoover. I haven't read any of her stuff, should I try reading some of her books? Is her stuff any good? I wanna try reading more YA novels that people based movies off of, like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, _The Sun Is Also A Star,_ _The Fault In Our Stars,_ _5 Feet Apart,_ etc. Does anyone have any recommendations besides these ones I've mentioned for YA novels and books I should read and movies I should watch? I also wanna watch the movies _Life Itself_ and _Spoiler Alert,_ as well. (Note:I haven't watched _any_ of these movies yet!).
@lissaadriaensens5 ай бұрын
It Ends With Us is NOT YA! It's also a super heavy book, so read the trigger warnings before reading the book if you're planning on reading it. If you like YA you'll probably like All the Bright Places, Today Tonight Tomorrow and Better than the Movies though! :)

Lot's of great YA movie choices. Another good one to check out Words on Bathroom Walls.

@swtpea11 I think I heard of that one!! Isn't that the one with the main male character that suffers from schizophrenia? I saw the trailer for it awhile back, it looked like a pretty good portrayal and movie. :3.

Colleen Hoover books are really good. I just finished “Regretting You”. You should love that one. As far as “trigger warning” for “It ends with us” come on. I’ve been through an abusive marriage and then some. I was fine with this book. Yes, it’s sad and awful to have lived through abuse, but I’ve grown up and moved on and can handle the exposure. It’s really not that bad.
