This is the thing with great songwriters. The first comment on the video (the woman with ex husband named Peter) is the perfect example of how Taylor reaches out to people. People say that she makes songs for mainstream but i say that she WRITE songs for the masses. These songs have thousand interpretations and hundreds of people will actually STRONGLY relate to them. And this is true with all her songs. That's what makes her her. That's what makes her the biggest popstar of our generation. This is Taylor Swift and this is her impact.

This. I think that one of the biggest forces behind Taylor’s success and stardom is that she always conceptualises her albums and songs, gives them specific colour palettes, tones, vibes and then everything that comes along with it screams that theme. She gives people associations to hold on to. And then like you said she sprinkles on some very specific personal stories, names, places, ... but still keeps the songs vague enough for them to be relatable to the rest of us. It is almost like she owns certain colours and concepts😂😂

"we both did the best we could do underneath the same moon, in different galaxies" its like reality and neverland that kinda imagery knowing that both are not destined to be together in the end. Peter pan is known to be the boy who never grow up while Wendy Darling eventually grows up so Taylor is making contrast of how she's leaving behind the fresh feeling-in-love moment after some rough patches of reality in "lost to the Lost Boys chapter of your life"

The fact that peter (If we are talking about peter pan) Cant grow up but Wendy keeps growing up with age, but also with wisdom. I feel like this is a amazing perspective on Betty and James. "I'm 17 I don't know anything" this line is very immature while betty writes a song showing absolute maturity. Another thing is how she is apologizing for something that is his problem like literally the starting line in the song is "forgive me peter." So now only was he making her feel like the problem with his immaturity he was also leaving her while she was contemplating what was going on, the repetition is her anxiety on will he return or not.

Her repeating to herself "you said you were gonna grow up" realizing how naive she was for believing that he would grow up and come find her. He never grew up therefore he was never gonna go and find her. He left me again for his ex and kept me waiting, never loved me the way i did.. Then came back again.. Every song is a punch to the gut 😭, and more than the fantasy of Peter and Wendy setting, her lyrics is relatable to real life when most couples either outgrew each other, or had met too young to keep the promises. I just realized, "25 years old" lyric is also in Dancing with our hands tied

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. English is not my first language so when I first heard it without the lyrics I didn't understand most of it, but I did understand the feeling it conveyed and I started bawling immediately.

I love this song, probably the best on the album. Makes me cry every time "We both did the best we could do underneath the same moon/in different galaxies" 😢 Thank you taylor

So far, this is my favorite song. Just amazes me how words just fall out of her and they’re so beautiful. She can just write song after song after song and they’re all so well put together and really make me feel. Such a rare talent. Amazing, truly. 🩵

I feel like I'm "Peter" in this song. I did tell him I need time to grow up and will come back. But in growing up, I grew out of "us", so I never went back. I'm sorry to the man who loved me for who I am. I hope you find someone who will treasure you forever because you deserve it more than I do.
