Some interesting highlights about this song’s lyrics: - There is a Chinese proverb that says “An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.” - Centennial park - There is one in Nashville, where Taylor’s family moved to so she could pursue a career. She was 13. - One of Joe Alwyn's first jobs was at a frozen yogurt shop called Snog in London. The color of the employees’ t-shirt? Yes, teal. - “Bad was the blood of the song in the cab...” Her hit song “Bad Blood” from her album “1989” was playing everywhere in 2015. - “Getting lunch down by the lakes...” She seemingly makes reference to a thee-year anniversary date they had in UK's Lake district, which is also known as the Lakes. *The Lakes is also the name of the Folklore’s bonus track. - “Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar...” She also mentioned a dive bar in another song “Delicate” from her album Reputation. This song is about the beginning of her relationship with Joe: “Dive bar on the East Side, where you at?”. - “One single thread of gold tied me to you” / “Gold was the color of the leaves” She has mentioned the “gold” color in many lyrics in her albums (Reputation and Lover) always making a connection to her relationship with Joe. Some examples: “Made your mark on me, a golden tattoo” (Dress), “I once believed love would be burning red but it’s golden...” (Daylight). - “Now I send their babies presents...” She has dated Joe Jonas (Jonas Brothers) who famously broke up with her over the phone. He had a daughter recently and it looks like she may have sent a gift... Sorry for the long comment, but I couldn’t help it... I love this song.

I would suggest you finish folklore/evermore because Miss TSwift creates entire eras and not just albums. There was complete genre as well as mood shift. Style, imagery and lyricism hit different. The transition will be interesting from a 1st listen point of view. Nobody wants just a sip of the best wine, you gotta finish the serve, then get a bottle and finally delve into the winery racks🍷

If you're up for it I would do the albums in reverse order but do them in track order. Her albums are great as far as cohesive narratives or themes, and I think it's best to introduce each era with the intended album opener and end with the intended closer. Or at least go through the singles in reverse order and then go back for the deep cuts.

Bad was the Blood is, indeed, a reference to Bad Blood. That song was huge on the radio when her boyfriend went to work to America. The baby that she sends presents to is Joe Jonas's, who she used to write songs about calling him out (Forever & Always). There is an old myth about a red string tying people who are destined to be together, but hers is gold because she always describes her relationship using that color (you need to listen other albums to understand this reference). The dive bar lyric is a reference to her song Delicate from her album reputation, where she sang about meeting her current boyfriend: dive bar on the East Side, where you at? (Delicate, 2017) = a string that pulled me out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar (Invisible String, 2020).
@SwiftieXinfinity Жыл бұрын
“Dive bar on the Eastside, where you at?” Is a line in “Delicate” was about Joe as well so the part about the dive bar in this song ties the songs together too

Using colours as metaphors for different situations and emotions is a very classic thing in Taylor's discography, you'll discover it the more you delve into her music :))

Invisible String is about how fate from early on linked her to her boyfriend of 5 years Joe. “Bad was the blood of the song in the cab on your first trip to LA”, he’s British and his first trip to LA her song Bad Blood was playing in the cab and he ate at her fave restaurant. String that pulled out of all the wrong arms (past relationships) right into that dive bar (famous callback to her song Delicate about the beginning of their relationship). Note the bridge, she uses string, wire, chain, wool, and thread in a few lines. Brilliant. I’d stick with these two albums a little bit longer. You could try some more upbeat songs if the depression is setting in…. Tis the Damn Season, No Bidy No Crime, Long Story Short, Gold Rush, and Ivy are a little more upbeat. A little. On folklore: Last Great American Dynasty, the One maybe slightly more upbeat. But I don’t think you need to do every song. I do have a request. “Marjorie” lyric video from evermore. It’s about her grandmother, who was an opera singer, and the lyric video has home movies and pictures of her. It’s very touching.

It's always great to see your videos because you don't try to play detective with the songs or just say something to please people. Instead, you start with an open mind and say what you are feeling, plus you are always very thoughtful. And yeah, you go the Bad Blood reference, this song is full of references (a lot can only be caught y people that have listened to most of her cataloge like purple pink skies is a reference to the cover of her album Lover and since her album Reputation when she talks about gold she's also referencing Joe). I love this song, the instrumental feels relaxing and her harmonies are amazing. There's no set way to enjoy music but Taylor is one of those artists that takes a lot of time to decide the track order of her albums because she almost always has a theme or concept in mind that works better that way. In my opinion, if I were you I would take any Taylor album that you want to listen and give it a try to listen in order (using lyric videos, even if there aren't official ones for most of her albums) and see if you like it and it works for you.
@virginiaallison21723 жыл бұрын
I would definitely go through all of Folklore and Evermore before going into earlier music - just because she does eras so well and it might be jarring going from Folklore/Evermore to a song of Reputation or 1989 or Red. Though I would love to see you react to all of her music cause she is awesome.

Been waiting for this one!! There's not much more blatantly happy-Taylor in evermore or folklore if you're more leaned into that. Your engagement and enjoyment is what makes these reactions also so enjoyable to watch, so check with yourself too. Plenty of people mentioned other folk./ever. songs (really all of them are unbelievably good) if you want to continue. But if you want to jump to other albums maybe walk backwards going to the album Lover next? (the genre change backlash will not be as great this way too). Lover has the homonymous song Lover, which is one of the sweetest happy love declarations I've ever listened to. So I would recommend that to maintain the good vibe feel a little longer :)

Folklore and evermore are a pretty self contained era. I’d probably say to finish folklore and evermore and then when you go back and do other ones see if you notice the references she used in folklore/evermore (i.e “single thread of gold tied me to you” and “it’s golden, like daylight”-daylight, lover and “into that dive bar” with “dive bar on the east side where you at?”-delicate, reputation). Evermore and folklore are the ones that are the least autobiographical (one exception being this song!) which I think was really fun for Taylor from a story telling perspective because she could use all those different experiences!

I don't know if someone already said it, but the "purple pink skies" is clearly a reference to her album Lover, which most of the song are about her current relation with Joe Alwyn. The album cover and the aesthetic of it is pastel colors, clouds, skies...

Your head is going to be spinning, trying to discover the clever way she ties songs/stories together. Not just on one album, but albums from other years. She is a genius writer/poet who can put the most unique words together, filled with metaphors, symbolism, analogies, etc., to tell a story. Over the years she has grown and evolved as an artist, but her creative, clever, writing style can be evidenced in her songs from the beginning; age 13 or before!

Fyi Taylor used a lot of literary references in both folklore & evermore. I believe this song was inspired by a book Jane Eyre where a character tells Jane he loves her by saying, “I have a strange feeling with regard to you. As if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly knotted to a similar string in you.” There were a lot of articles that listed out all the references found in the albums. The famous ones would be Peter Pan reference in Cardigan, "Peter losing Wendy", and Gatsby references in Happiness, "dividing up", "reinvention", "green light", and "I hope she'd be a beautiful fool".

Evermore and Folklore are very heavy albums, I would recommend you mix it up with some other songs from other albums. A few fan favorites are: Enchanted and Dear John (Speak Now). Cruel Summer and Lover (Lover).

I'd also would love to see him reacting to Blank Space. It's such a well known song, but I feel like most people just see it as a bop without realising just how masterfull the lyrics are put in place there. Since he likes to dig into the storytelling it is a great song to react to. I still find it so impressive she made such a smash hit out of a song with such great lyrics.

One of the many delicate situations I think where it could have gone wrong, Taylor’s favorite movie is Love, Actually, which Joe auditioned for and lost. So imagine if he would have gotten it and maybe he wouldn’t have later landed the movie with Emma Stone who was the person to introduce him to Taylor. Or if he would have gotten Love, Actually and met Taylor because of it and they wouldn’t have been ready for each other yet.

Us swifties love all Taylor songs (maybe a few we’re not huge fans of), though there will be an audience for whatever you decide to do! I love Taylor reactions and I think it’s fun going backwards. Or even jump from folklore/evermore to her debut album and just see where she came from, then move chronologically. folklore and evermore are very much the same vibe of mellow, not very upbeat songs. so if you are interested in reacting to more upbeat or happy songs there are so many to recommend haha. one of things Taylor is, every album of hers has it's own sound, so if you listen to songs from folklore and then 1989 and then reputation they are very different styles and vibes. reputation is bombastic pop production in your face because it was after the drama she had with Kim and Kanye and she felt the need to as she put it: "lash out her bitterness and anger". though the majority of reputation are love songs most fans and the general public who don't know Taylor really dislike the album reputation because it doesn't sound like typical Taylor. but I love that album. she put on a character of what the internet have said about her of a liar, manipulator witch. 1989 is considered one of the best pop albums ever. speak now she wrote all by herself at the age of 19. damn' there are so many to choose from. Lover (the song) is great. Red (the song) King Of My Hear Begin Again Cruel Summer Wildest Dreams Style
