I absolutely LOVE Folklore. She made both Folklore and Evermore during Covid. She was bored after 2 days of quarantine so she decided she was going to be productive. She made a studio in her home because everything was closed. She solved that problem. I’m excited for you to hear more of Folklore. If you listen to “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve”, but listen to “Dear John” first as it’s a 2 part series; done many years apart about the same person who was 9 years her senior, John Mayer. She wrote the 2nd part when she was 29, John’s age when they were together. Genius. Thank you!! This is definitely a bop! My favorites from Folklore are “Epiphany”, “Exile with Bon Iver”, “My Tears Ricochet” (about the person who sold her masters; you’ll see the anger in her eyes), “This is Me Trying” & “Hoax”. I know it’s a lot, but this album is a masterpiece in my opinion. Chefs kiss 😘 Watch the Long Pond Studio Sessions for this album. It makes such a HUGE difference. Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner and Taylor Swift have conversations about the song, (how it came about and what they want people to think it’s about) before they play it. Obviously Taylor says this is all folk songs, but we now know better. There’s a love triangle 🔺: “Betty”, “August” and “Cardigan”. 2 females in love with the same guy, each song told in one of their different perspectives. Cardigan is the main girlfriend, told from her future. August is the summer fling girl still in high school and Betty is from the guy, also still in high school. It’s soo good if you can listen to the trio together. She ties them together so beautifully but also not overly obvious. I hope you see this post!! 🥰🤗🎤

If you're moving on to folklore, you should really do some long pond studio sessions with the interviews. Also, if you're gonna do Would've, Could've, Should've, you should listen to Dear John first. ;-)

Also Aaron Dessner, member and founder of the band The National. This is the first album he worked with taylor. And has ever since. They are a perfect match honestly. Taylor said that his musical composions inspire her writing. Also if you ever do Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve you NEED to do Dear John first. Directly after one another. Because it’s about the same relationship. Dear john right after and WCS after 12 years
@Swiftiemom756 ай бұрын
I agree, “Dear John” first and then right after “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve”. If you could do both songs in one reaction that would be great! Taylor wrote “Dear John” at age 20 right after her relationship with singer John Mayer. Taylor wrote “Would’ve” later at the same age John was (age 32) when he dated Taylor. Taylor was only 19 years old when they dated just to give you some context.

Folklore has a bonus track called The Lakes, I think you would like it. I have always liked we never painted by the numbers, but we were making it count, you are like the first person who has mentioned it. Her first 6 she is re-recording to reclaim them, but she adds the vault tracks, they didn't make the original cut, new production, and sometimes with features. 1st album, titled Taylor Swift, does not own yet. TV (Taylor's Version) owns, Fearless, Speak Now (totally self-written), Red, 1989. Her 6th album is Reputation, which she does not own yet. That is the one I am waiting for, at 65 I hope to hear it before I die, can't wait to hear the vault tracts. Reputation is her edgier album. Great reaction.

If you’re going to react to would’ve could’ve should’ve you should first react to Dear John. They are intertwined. And you first need some backstory. Both songs are about John Mayer who Taylor dated when she was 19 and he was 32. This relationship was toxic/abusive and it really affected Taylor in many ways. Dating someone older and the relationship being toxic/abusive. Especially when you are that young will impact you. John Mayer is known for being toxic/abusive in relationships and several women have spoken out about it. Dear John was written when Taylor was 19. Johns tried to sue her but lost and instead wrote a revenge song about her. Would’ve could’ve should’ve was written when Taylor her self was 32. (The same age as John was when they dated) and the song is track 19!
