I would be complex I would be cool They'd say I played the field before I found someone to commit to And that would be okay For me to do Every conquest I had made Would make me more of a boss to you I'd be a fearless leader I'd be an alpha type When everyone believes ya What's that like? I'm so sick of running As fast as I can Wondering if I'd get there quicker If I was a man And I'm so sick of them Coming at me again 'Cause if I was a man Then I'd be the man I'd be the man I'd be the man They'd say I hustled Put in the work They wouldn't shake their heads And question how much of this I deserve What I was wearing, if I was rude Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves And we would toast to me, oh, let the players play I'd be just like Leo, in Saint-Tropez I'm so sick of running As fast as I can Wondering if I'd get there quicker If I was a man And I'm so sick of them Coming at me again 'Cause if I was a man Then I'd be the man I'd be the man I'd be the man What's it like to brag about raking in dollars And getting bitches and models? And it's all good if you're bad And it's okay if you're mad If I was out flashin' my dollas I'd be a bitch, not a baller They'd paint me out to be bad So it's okay that I'm mad I'm so sick of running As fast as I can Wondering if I'd get there quicker If I was a man (you know that) And I'm so sick of them Coming at me again (coming at me again) 'Cause if I was a man (if I was man) Then I'd be the man (then I'd be the man) I'm so sick of running As fast as I can (as fast as I can) Wondering if I'd get there quicker If I was a man (hey!) And I'm so sick of them Coming at me again (coming at me again!) 'Cause if I was a man (if I was man) Then I'd be the man I'd be the man I'd be the man (oh) I'd be the man (yeah) I'd be the man (I'd be the man)

I love this song. I am not one of the rabid Swifties but I really admire TS. She is a very talented songwriter/singer, puts on a great show, and appears to be a pretty savvy businesswoman. All things we greatly admire about male performers. But what do people focus on, her love life, her feuds with other performers, and why she isn't "settled down" now that she is turning 30. TS is a real success story plus she still has very close ties to her family. I heard her speak very highly of her younger brother. Finally, she has never been involved with any criminal scandal, such as drugs or alcohol related. At 62 I am old enough to be her father and frankly, if I had a daughter I would want her to be just like TS.

Rolland Fitch no. All that stuff is what she focuses on. Do you actually listen to the lyrics.
@martham63 жыл бұрын
@@JohnLnyc what she sings about is what any other artist sings about. that’s the whole point.
@JohnLnyc3 жыл бұрын
@@martham6 Fine. I really have no issues with her music. What is annoying are her obvious self promotion efforts. Yes most artists promote themselves but Swift is a bit too obvious and pretentious. Worse are fans who incessantly push Swift as some kind of otherworldly musical genius.
@mallikahanda14463 жыл бұрын
@@JohnLnyc then why are you watching her videos
@JohnLnyc3 жыл бұрын
@@mallikahanda1446 I don’t really. I have little interest in them. In fact very few videos are of much interest excepting videos of live performances. As I noted, I don’t have anything against her actual music. Some is quite good actually. My comments have more to do with her self promotion (again most artists do this) and her fans who can’t seem to accept any criticism of her on any level and worse elevate her to some sort of musical genius.

I think that she's singing with attitude. The song is meant to be tongue in cheek about the Ridiculousness that is the disparity between men and women when it comes to equal pay and the quality in general. If you look at her face while she's singing the lyrics, that's what it looks like to me.

@@kaylinann914 well see my first problem was that i watched a lot of princess movies when i was a kid. I particularly loved the swan princess, "is beauty all that matters to you?" "What else is there?". And i took that as a motto for life. Suffered with eating disorders, low self esteem, low confidence, body dismorphic disorder. Raised to feel like all that was going to make me happy was having children. And if your doing motherhood right, and you dont have much help, it pretty much destroys any career opportunities and social life and freedom. Oh and not to mention being academically skilled rather than socially skilled - would be desired as a man, not as a girl.
@thatchick87964 жыл бұрын
@@kaylinann914 so perhaps not necessarily the surface value of being a man vs. being a woman, but all the subtle things. The subconcious psychology, attitudes and expectations. Which i think taylor does well at addressing in this song. Dare i say, u notice it a lot more once you have kids though.
