There are American schools that aren't like that. Several states have special high school programs on college campus for advanced students. Those schools do run a lot like a college because it's being run by a college. That's the type of school she goes to, not a regular boarding school.

+Sierra Fields a boarding school is a school where you live. We are funded by the state so no we don't pay tuition but we do pay room and board which is included in private boarding school tuition

I don't know why so many people think boarding school is so bad but my mom went to a prestigious one in London when she was in high school and it was like we're all the rich kids went or something and it was so that they could do better and get into a good college not so that the parents don't have to deal with the kids anymore

Yes but they're awful if you're not ditch because its all about connections, and if you're poor you likely don't have any so there's no reason for anyone even the teachers to be nice to you. My gran got into one on scholarship and it was dreadful.

I'm a super private introvert, and also being so regimented and controlled would drive me mad! Not to say this isn't a great experience 👆🏻 I just think I would go insane! I'm literally shook??? My boarding school had literally 150 students, eight of them in my grade and I was the only girl??? We also had a very strict uniform and weren't allowed to leave campus unless specified by our parents three days in advance, we had a breakfast hour and if you missed it you literally weren't going to eat until lunch, what kind of heaven do you go to?

At my boarding school in ireland we started at 8:00 went to class from 8-9 then breakfast then class1 9:30-10-30 class2 10:30-11:30 class3 11:30-12:30 lunch class4 1:15-2:15 class5 2:15-3:15 class6 3:15-4:15 -then school finishes- gym for 1 and a half hours till 5:45 then dinner 5:45-6:30 study hall 6:30-7:30 then club meetings (depends if you are in a club, i was in drama,media,dance and history so i spent an hour in clubs everyday😂 15 min in every club 😂 but i loved it though then after that you just hung out with friends then you had to be in your room after 10 then lights out for 11 i was in a dorm with 4 other people and they literally become family This was also my timetable for the week Monday - french- math- bio -Spanish- english- drama- Irish heritage Tuesday-media- drama- history- Spanish- chem- Irish heritage- religious studies😣 Wednesday- chem- bio - french - english- english- math- drama Thursday- math- math -french- spanish- chem - drama- media Friday- math- english- Spanish- bio- chem- french -media Saturday- we get up at 10:00 and classes starts at 11:30 and continue normally for the rest of the day - dance- cooking- art- guidance ( yes my Saturdays were very slack as all your recreational classes are then e.g. Ones you take once a week and also guidance is like pupil support) Sundays we then had free but we had to go to 2 classes which were on all day from 7am-7pm and u just had to drop into each class for like an hour my two classes on Sunday were statistics and politics i know terrible😫 My school also didn't have uniform on the weekend but did on the weekdays we also had many activities such as horse riding,hockey,tennis,water polo,swimming,badminton,football ,rugby,musical instrument lessons, tae kwon do, cookery, art, anything really😂 We also at the weekend don't have clubs or physical education at the weekends And thats basically my life from age 8-18 I'm 15 now

Channy usually they have an in house doctor. Who is basically a nurse but MUCH better!!

If I was sick for a Day I had to tell a teacher and then I could go back to the dorm for the Day. If someone was really sick they had to go home for the rest of the week (Our school was closed on the weekends anyways so it was normal to go home every week). Bonus if you're sick monday/tuesday and feel pretty much okay again on wednesday but aren't allowed to Come back for the Rest and just have off at home.

British boarding schools seem very different. Students are required to meet high expectations both inside and outside the classroom. They're given additional projects to run/organize themselves, which is so beneficial for character and leadership development. It also minimizes time spent on idle unproductive pursuits.

lily It isn't. In college you can choose (as an adult) where you want to go and what you want to do outside of campus. These kids have to remain on campus and don't get to make their own decisions. The only thing boarding school and university have in common is classes and dorms, but that tiny bit isn't even half of the college experience.

This was sooooo much better than other people's "day in my life" videos. This was actually realistic and interesting. Other people show them putting on like 10 lbs of makeup on and then they eat a fancy healthy breakfast and they are all just really extra. This was just really real and it was interesting seeing what it was like going to boarding school!

Rachel D. Basically you can't leave the building except for class and to eat and I'm pretty sure you get grounded by like leave when your not supposed to or not being in you dorm by the time you have I'm assuming

In my case, you can get detention or you are forced to run around a mile track without music for 1-2 hours. But that is in the case of missing many classes and skipping some. In most cases your parents get notified.

At my boarding school, we wake up at 8, go to class at 9 have lunch from 12-2pm and then we finish at 4:30. In the afternoon, I have field hockey until 6:30, then dinner at 7 in the dinning hall, study hall from 8:30-9:30, in rooms at 10:15 and lights out at 10:30

My boarding school was absolute hell on earth. It was also up in the mountains. Not allowed to leave the grounds unless we were very sick. Parents can only visit once a semester and they can't give you anything, no food or presents. We studied all day and had a billion uniforms a billion different socks and shoes for each uniform. The food was weird. I was severely depressed. I wanted to die. Intentionally made myself ill so that I could go home, but they have a hospital on campus. They didn't let my parents know. Never allowed to call them.

Boarding school looks just like the summer academic camp I take. Basically for a month I go to a college campus in the summer and for the fun take extra curricular classes like photography and algebra (the algebra in this is fun haha) and it’s just a lot of fun!
