Interesting that Mike Tirico would mention at 2:21:58 the referee taking a card out of his pocket to slide between the ball and the yard marker to see if it was a first down. That exact thing happened in the Cowboys-Raiders game in 2017. Referee pulled a card out, stuck it between the stick and the ball and gave the Cowboys a first down. First time I had ever seen that happen.

When Spurrier mentioned postgame how few games he has had in his career decided late like this one - I looked back and could only find 3 wins in his time at Florida where they won with a score in the final two minutes. '93 at Kentucky, '97 against FSU and '00 at Tennessee. Of course that's because they usually steamrolled people but still interesting.

@lindseysummers53513 жыл бұрын
@@lloyddillon4537 2011 was good...very good. But in 2013, our guys played and beat two BCS bowl winners and a 2nd tier bowl game winner (who also son their division), all of whom finished in the Top 10. They beat three other bowl winners, and a conference co-champion in FCS. The team as a whole was just tougher that season. I will say that 2011 likely was the best collection of individual talent, but 2013 was the better team.

True story: Wife (Michigan fan, calm demeanor) and me (SC fan, antsy) watching this game. We managed to stay civil the entire game until that horrendous 4th down call. I lost it. She got mad at me but I couldn't believe what i was seeing. But during the commercial break, a chance for it all to be corrected during the review. Surely they will fix it. Back from commercial, Michigan still has the ball--I'm now furious to the point where I can't sit still. I'm already visibly upset when Clowney slams into Smith and grabs the fumble. I went from venting angry to screaming happy. I'm pretty sure I slept on the couch that night.
@tgpbegleri4 жыл бұрын
Lol, what a story! I too thought the same thing at the time. "The refs messed up, but they'll fix it during the break." Boy was I wrong. I was still fuming right up to the point when Clowney blasted Smith. What a good day! How I wish Gamecock football could get back to these times.
@goatcheese4me4 жыл бұрын
@@tgpbegleri it takes a great coach and a great recruiter. Spurrier was both. Muschamp was known to be a great recruiter, but his reputation as a coach was already in question, which I think hurt his recruiting. And of course he showed why he was a horrible coach. He does best when he's not fully in charge of the ship, so I think he'll succeed as a DC where ever he ends up.

Despite the obvious, there were a lot of interesting moments in this game, such as the 52-yard field goal conversion by Michigan, the 4-straight failed 2-point conversions on the last 4 scoring possessions (that had to have been something historic); and the fact that it was overall a great contest.
