Yo Trott - Great video bud! Gore is reluctant to modernize his driver. Reminds of Tiger, of old. They are the same generation, after all. Completely agree with the mental visual apex height issue from days gone by. Back in the day I always struggled with too much height off the driver, which was coupled with lots of spin. Coming back to the game 20 years later I was trying to get an apex of around 100ft, but didn't appreciate with new tech you can flight at 120-30 with a spin profile that won't compromise, even into wind.

Big fan of Jason Gore. Hope to see him on TV playing great golf. I am getting fit on Sunday for a SIM 2 driver. I will be hitting range balls outside. This was a great video! Thanks!

What confused me a little bit about this fitting, was the landing angle. You've talked about wanting to see this type of speed at about a 38* land angle. That's where Jason was when his spin was down closer to 2000, with the higher launch angle you want to see him with. When his spin got into the mid 2000's his land angle was about 42*

Hi Trottie, which launch monitor do you prefer using TrackMan or Foresight GC Quad for fitting? Is one better for outdoor and one better for indoor? I see a lot of pros now using both on the range at the same time, why would they do that? Thanks
@trottiegolf3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes they one calibrated to the clubhead and the other studying the ball numbers, other times it's a comparison. Honestly both monitors are great, indoor is tough as seeing ball flight is always key. Personal preference and habit but personally I like TrackMan but its more habit and an honest answer opposed to maybe a fair one.

Whats a good dynamic loft for a 7 iron?
@wallstreetoneil3 жыл бұрын
34-degree 7-iron with 10-degrees forward shaft lean but with 3 degrees forward shaft deflection at impact equals 27-degrees. Hitting down on ball by 3-degrees = 24-degrees - down by 5-degrees = 22-degrees. The launch will be pulled down another 5-degrees by the friction of the face on the ball so launch = 17-19 degrees. I made this all up but it's basically correct. Pro-impact with short irons is 10-15 degrees forward shaft lean & 2-6 degrees down. Forward shaft deflection at impact is a complete guess but it's ballpark for sure. Friction is a complete guess but it's my approximation looking at launch monitors. I stand to be corrected on any or all of the above - but taken all together, you will end up in a similar spot. I play a 32-degree 7-iron, launch 19-20, 120 ball-speed, 6000 spin - put that in an online launch monitor and I get my 170-175 carry range - so it all jells
