TAYLORMADE P790 IRON v PING G700 IRON

Although results are highly subjective to your golf swing, arguably your mind got programmed to set up the winner in the P790 irons simply on the notion of your not so pleasant looks of the “more bulky” ping iron. But the 5th shot on the ping mirrored the 790 iron shot on 3 of the 5 shots you made . My opinion only.. thanks for the view

I've hit both, they were both very forgiving but I actually got app. 4 yds more distance with the ping!

I have the P790, best irons I've had. Consistent across the set and very easy hitting. A little more chunky than the Adams CMBs I gamed previously but have that same buttery feel with much more forgiving performance. Can't speak to the G700 however (fwiw I've never been able to hit offset clubs well)

The P790 has a noticeably smaller head and is aimed at better players. The G700 has a much bigger head and is basically Ping's new Super GI iron. Not sure given the difference in intended market that one is "better" than the other. If you strike the ball all over the face the G700 gives you a lot bigger and forgiving face.

Obviously the Pings aren't a good fit for you. I went with the G700s because of looks. And the ball flight is TOWERING, with mind-boggling stopping power, considering the low spin number you get with them on the launch monitors.

I see the Ping G700 is for someone with a higher handicap and slower swing speed, but I see a lot of reviews from people who swing really well, and fast. I wonder how the Ping G700 would do if just a normal weekend golfer did a review, that’s the review I want to watch. Someone who has a slow swing needs to do a review

Mr. Nick both clubs are made for more fire power for slower swings. I think the p790’s are better for more different types of players. Achieving speed and distance is not a problem for me and I actually got the g700’s and I would get these wild fliers once in a while that would go 10-15 more yards. My gut told me to get another iron fitting and I ended up exchanging them for the P790’s. The ball stops on the greens and I have very consistent distance control. Best decision I made and recently played my lowest round. 🤙🏼

Great review, I’ve had both these irons out on the course and I have to say I was a little disappointed in the performance of the G700. Maybe I had too high expectations but it really was underwhelming. Feel was not good at all and distance, despite the strong lofts, was average. The P790 was really solid, much better feel and much better looking. The G700 is a massive head, the topline at address is fine with a very long blade length but the sole is massive. You should definitely try them out before you buy as they are fairly pricey. Keep up the good work 🏌️

Cool Review! I was under the impression that the G700's were more for average golfers and the P790's were for better golfers.

P790s are for >15 handicap I believe actually so even average golfers. The difference for me was the tm has a lot of shot shaping ability

Good review but not certain your comment that the P790 just a little better performance is correct. Looking at the numbers the P790 was way superior when you consider the total carry and distance the stopping power of the P790 was great. Your dispersion with the p790 was much tighter as well?? Cheers

Great review Ali .. You were striking that P790 better than any iron I've ever seen you hit before 👍 I'm interested in your opinion of the cobra F8 normal length irons .. With the cobra connect smart tags and reasonable price they are looking v tempting too me .. Some mixed reviews tho ..

Really good irons, the cobra connect tags are fantastic giving you great feedback about your game. You won't be disappointed, get fitted correctly though.

Seems to me you had more slight mishits with the G 700s so not quite a good comparison G 700s aimed at a mid to high handicap, Taylormade aimed at mid to low?

I hit chandels with these p790 and not very long. How tall are you and howmuch do you weight ?
