One of the benefits I had from being at my club was getting to do my training camps in Cuba as my coach was from there. Cuban boxing academy. They really are on a different level. I had the honor of doing some partner work with felix Savon son. He was so technical and crafty I learnt more doing a round with him than I did over here. The technicality they teach was like nothing I’ve experienced before. As for sparring that was like a war especially as I was from London they did not hold back😂😂

Same story with me - I went last year and had a similar experience! Was life changing. Thank you for sharing, and if you’re still in London, hit me up on Instagram for a 1-2-1 boxing session on the house (details are in my channel bio). I wrote about my time in Cuba a while back, have a read if you’re interested😊 www.thefight-site.com/home/the-cuba-diaries

How that was a split decision I'll never know. The Cuban was leagues apart!

Cuban walked that fight with ease , looked like he didn’t get out of second gear, those upper cuts were class , pat done a good job very tough game man , think he will do ok in the pro’s maybe he needs a bit more size for when he does mix it up with the bigger boys but definitely one to watch in the near future 🥊🥊

This was a good win but not a dominant performance from Nelson Williams (Cuba)

Wouldn’t worry about loosing to the Cuban in the amateurs Pat, it’s all they’ve got. Guy would get flattened in a 10 rounder. Ugly boxing style, real spoilers. Best they had was Gamboa and who else? No one knows😂

The best they had was *not* Gamboa. And the amateurs weren’t all they had either - before Cubans were banned from turning professional, some of the best pro’s in the sport’s history came from the island including Kid Gavilán and José Nápoles.
