I haven't been home for Christmas in 13 years! Christmas isn't the same in Florida, Germany is way more magical during Christmas time.

Germany is so amazing during Christmastime!! I'm originally from Canada but had the chance to spend one magical Christmas there (with my ex and his family, in a village of 200 in the mountains)... from attending church at midnight, where it was cold and snowy, with only candlelight and gorgeous carols... the cups of mulled wine at the market, where we watched all sorts of wooden ornaments and decorations spin around and little gnomes "smoke" out of their pipes... to the real lights on the tree, watching their flames dwindle and then wisp into nothingness... Anyway, I'm in Japan now (and in the hospital having a baby this year in particular), so Christmas is very different for me, too. But, I hope you had a wonderful one, even far from home!!

It's celebrated by Canada Grenada Liberia Saint Lucia United States Sub-national entities Leiden (Netherlands) Norfolk Island (Australia) Territories of the United States. Thanksgiving is celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. Which is a terrible part of history and why many people want to change the name, just like with Australia Day. Learn more in this link if you like. www.insider.com/history-of-thanksgiving-2017-11

It's fun how vlogs and vloggers can make a difference in your everyday life. I'm here after at least a year without watching a Taylor video, and starting my day by watching this one I went from absolutely gloomy, unmotivated and lost about what to do in the near future (existential dread 🤷‍♀️ going strong lately) a few minutes into the life of someone who still reminds me of my own time in Japan, and being the same age and liking the same things, it made me a tad bit more motivated to be more productive, as Taylor is. Thank you! ♡

Taylor! This video gave me much-needed motivation. Because of how the year went, I am spending Christmas alone... so for the entire month, I've been sulking because I wouldn't see my family. I didn't even put the tree... but today, you gave me so much hope and your words are so true: just enjoy what you have! I choose to be grateful today! I'll be home for Christmas, but this year it's going to be very difficult. My whole family is very religious and Christmas is important to us. Couple of days ago my mom tested positive for covid and so did my brother. My dad is still waiting for his results, but judging from his symptoms he'll probably test positive too. My mom's condition got really worse pretty quick and she ended up in the hospital. The rest of the family has to self-isolate for 2 weeks. And I just thought that this sh*tty year finally comes to an end. I just hope all of us can make it through 😔

Its been a strange holiday season for all of us. In my family we all got covid in 3 different states because of the nature of our family work tradition and we all actually traveled some driving 18 hours straight to spend Christmas together while we are all on our antibodie train. Sadly its a holiday, a birth celebration and a belated funeral. We didn't know if we'd get another opportunity too see each other for a while and we already had a handful of us barely survive covid and one of us died. Its been a roller-coaster of emotions and not getting better. For the adults this feels less like a holiday celebration and more of a possible goodbye forever before we all return to our respective hospitals, firehouses, ambulances, doctors offices or military service to go back to work after the holiday. Honestly, I don't think any of us are ever going to be the same. I know I have to because the nursing shortage is so bad and I'll be contributing to the death if I don't go back, but thinking about going back to work makes me so stressed out I get physically sick. Anyway, merry Christmas. Be kind because life is fleeting.
@earthstar7534

@@CaliMel184 we all already had covid because we almost all work as first responders. My father in law, a physician died treating people, my husband a firefighter was hospitalized and I had the privilege of treating him myself because there weren't enough nurses to cover. My brother in law has PTSD and is still working in a covid unit and we didn't see our children for months and they still got covid because someone took their kids for a check up after testing positive. We need to see each other. We drove straight there. Medical personnel is burning out and dying off. How about you shut the hell up and let us mourn our dead and have one last holiday together before we go back to the pit where we have to be neck deep in death and destruction day after day. We can't even quit no matter how done we are because there is no one to fill our shoes. Next year more of us will probably be dead and we know it. We have no choice but to return to the front lines. We know this is goodbye potentially. Do you think we like this or that we don't care? No. This is mourning. This is a funeral and us saying goodbye before marching to our deaths potentially. We just sat down arranging our wills so our children have a chain they can go to incase more of us die or any lose both parents. Do you think that was fun. Shut the hell up. I know exactly how it spreads. Its why we haven't left the house. I hate people like you as much as anti maskers.

I’m not sure if you’ve already tried this Taylor, but satin pillowcases really change the hair game!! I didn’t think it was a big deal until I tried one, and wow! @@MiZzThANGz21 Not anymore then other kinds of pillow cases. Actually, satin can help with your pillow case pulling, scratching, and tugging on your skin in your sleep. Keeping it really clean (weekly washing) helps a lot if you’re getting acne from it since they can hold way more night sweat and dirt.

Hi Taylor, glad to see you are making the most of it. The candle trick works, because it is the wax that is burning and not the candle wick. The wax turns from solid to liquid and then to gas. When you blow out the candle a bit of "wax gas" still rises and this allows you ignite the candle from a far. :) Merry Christmas :)

I’m from Macedonia and we celebrate Christmas on January 7th, but we only have a family dinner and that’s it. And idk about other people but we open presents right when it turns January 1st. So the whole day we wait until midnight because we believe that Santa (дедо мраз/dedo mraz- which translates to grandpa frost) is still traveling around the world leaving gifts for kids. Some people wait until the morning to open gifts but my family opens them after midnight.

I’ve found more in Europe these days (this is my experience) that if you don’t have kids and you’re grown you spend it with friends and your partner, I didn’t realise just how much Christmas meant until I visited my partners family in the USA. I’ve worked every Christmas since I was 16 and so have my parents, it’s always been, open a couple presents and have some snacks. And when you get a serious partner you have the like ~first Christmas~ together and it’s all romantic and stuff 🤷🏼‍♀️ again my experience. I remember I was working in Tokyo one year and I genuinely forgot Christmas was a thing until the 23rd because it’s nothing like the west ahaha

The candle thing: when it first is blown out, the smoke off of it includes some bits that are only partially burned and are still flammable. So when you bring a flame to that smoke, you can light those still flammable fumes that lead right back to the wick! It only works for a brief time after you blow it out though. Good job getting it to work on camera! I've never actually made it work 😅

I don't know if it's easy to change, but the restaurant at 15:47 is Din Tai Fung, not Din Tai Tung (in the captions)... for anyone looking to try it out :) I hope Taylor and anyone reading this had a nice Christmas, if that's your thing! I haven't had a great one... emergency hospitalization for my pregnancy on the 22nd... they wanted to do an emergency c-section, but there're no beds in the NICU for baby (I'm only 34 weeks along). So baby has to stay inside despite the danger to him and to me. Wish us luck... Having missed all things Christmas, and about to miss New Year's, too (I'm in Japan, so it's an ultra important day here), I'm super grateful for videos like these - making the best of any situation, staying positive and looking on the bright side, and frankly just Taylor and Tom being their awesome selves.

I lived in HK with my family until I was 6 and we moved to the UK. I remember having no decorations at home but we would go out and look at all the lights and Christmas decorations out and it would be a big day. Now we are in the Uk and we have been here for 30 odd years, we have fully embraced the “western” style and have Christmas tree, stockings and Christmas lunch for my 2 kids. Also you were “one of those shoppers” with your suitcase 🙊😅😂

I am also far from home this Christmas. My husband and I live in the UK and are both from Australia. All of our family still live there. We had planned to go back for Christmas this year but instead it will be just us two and our three cats. I look forward to watching your vlogs, especially at this time when the world seems so sad.

Hey Taylor!!! This year hk is definitely more festive than Christmas in Toronto. Besides the snow and maybe driving in a car to see decorated homes, it didn't feel like Christmas at all. The city was locked down and we were not allowed to visit family or friends. We were advised to stay within our immediate household (people you live with). It's my first year celebrating Xmas in Toronto after 10 years in hk, and I was looking forward to it so much. Despite it all, I am so happy and super thankful to see you share this video (and part 2) because it gave me the most Christmas spirit I ever got this season. 💕💕💕 It's funny because I used to watch your xmas videos to experience Canadian Christmases that I miss so much. With t.o lockdown and everything closed, I'm watching your hk Christmases and missing that 😂 🙈 Thank you for allowing us to experience and see things through your eyes. Hope 2021 treats us all better and we can all visit and hug our friends and families soon!
