Today we supposed to be a funny little day of me, Mum and Roger heading down to the breach by canal boat, in Rogers Narrowboat and winding at the winding hole, just feet from the Bridgewater canal breach! But before we did that i tragically lost my beloved companion... My drone. In such a unbearable way! Once we make it to the breach, we were shocked to see that there were a group of people putting fish in the canal! We then take a walk to the overside of the breach to check the levels and were quite surprised...

Pull the drone out. Remove the battery (the battery will probably be destroyed and will need replacing) disassemble the drone as best you can clean it up. Let it dry thoroughly for a few days , some also use silica gel packs or rice. If it was sunny you could dry in the sun . The drone will most likely be ok although will probably need a new battery. Trust me I am a technician and have done this with hand held radios ❤ hopefully it was switched off when it went for a swim.

The gimbal is so sensitive - that’s the main culprit for destruction. Half a chance if it had the gimbal cover on.

Wash with water to get the dirt and mud out, so there will be no mud left to cause shorts and corrosion. Then wash with (isopropanol) alcohol. The alcohol dilutes the water away so there will be no water droplets left to corrode things. The alcohol will evaporate quickly so the drone will be almost instantly back in use. Beware the fumes. You can buy isopropanol from electronics stores etc, or check out the car section in a supermarket if they have eg. diesel fuel antifreeze made of propan-2-ol aka isopropanol.

I know how much work it must be to get these videos out on the same day, but for me the real time daily update is part of what makes it compelling. Josh, sorry about your bad luck today. I thought for a few seconds, that your Mum had an accident, glad that did not happen. Thanks to you you and your Mum and Dad, for all your excellent vlogs and congratulations on having your work featured in the Heritage Centre at Lym. I used to live in Warwick, very close to the Canal, near the Cape of Good Hope. On summer evenings, we would walk down there and enjoy a tipple. Now I live back home in Australia. Lovely memories. Your drone is not dead , put it in a bag of rice for 24 hours and then change the rice and do another 24 hours , that’s how a friend fixed his

In the 70s there Used to be a sluice gate at circular shaft with the railings with a timber head stock about 8 foot back from the repaired canal edge think its long gone now under all the bracken

Sorry to see you have lost your drone, if you do manage to retrieve it, am sure it can be saved, it will need a specialist to dry it out properly - not just left in a bag of rice - there is a bloke in Kent called Mathew at Prism Technology who would be able to sort it for you properly. Oh Josh, so sorry. These things really do knock us back. Well done for sounding philosophical about it. Try to always remember it's just stuff. No-one's injured or died. I know losing things that way does make you miserable for a while, but your mum must also feel pretty dreadful too. On a brighter note Olive is looking spectacular. And some fish were saved! Kudos to those lovely lads who rescued them. This too will pass Josh. Be happy!

G'day, Yikes ! Bummer about the Drone, but at least your mum didn't break anything, falling over... I speculate that the culvert under the Breach - which the Farmer dug out & cleared, was there to drain the base of the Embankment, but it has been blocked by vegetation overgrowth, since 1972 when the previous breach was repaired - and that Culvert being blocked was possibly/probably The proximal cause of the 1971 Breach, as well. The Spillway you were looking at was dug into the part of the Canal which was on Fill which was Not saturated - which is why the Headwater-Erosion was falling off the Cliff at the edge of the bottom of the Canal. I reckon the blocked Cukvert let the Water on the Flash-Lands to percolate up into the Embankment via Capilliary-Action between the Sand-Grains...and as tge Fill became wetter and soggier the Weight of Water in the Canal made the Embankment Slump... So when the Water Overtopped the Bank at the Breach - That bit of Bank was maybe 6-inches or a foot Lower than the Bank Everywhere else along the entire Canal. The Water hasn't ever risen high enough on the rest of the entire Canal, for it to Begin Overflowing the Excess Spillway leading to the Fenced Overflow-Sump and Outlet Drainpipe... At least, such be my Guesstimation, And I may be full of Shit, Because it's my very first time Analysing a neglected and thus Broken Canal (!). Such is life, Don't go too far up-tech. with the new Drone ; because the Prime Principle of all Aeroplanology is, "Simplicate..., And ; Add more Lightness...!" Have a good one... You can draw your drone out answer 50/50 chance that it would work but obviously you will have to unscrew it to make sure none of the terminals connections do not fur up

We were only going onto Rogers boat for a cruise so a bag wasn't needed. When Josh goes on walks he takes a ruck sack with him for the drone

Hi Josh Di sorry to hear about your drone, can any parts be saved? for future machines, The video was very good as normal very informative and a pleasure to watch, very good news about the fish and the young chaps who have helped in saving them, Keep smiling accident happen, they do say that things happen in threes -so you should be ok from now - onwards and upwards, I will keep my fingers crossed for you and the drone, Have a large cup of tea and a huge chocolate biscuit and take it easy for a day or two, stay safe warm have a steady weekend next week should be better!!!!!! .

So my hearing is more acute. I'm especially keen on the winter snow and ice drone videos. I hope that you're getting a new drone soon.

If you can get it out, give it a was in decarbonise or battery water, dry it off in and leave in an oven set to a very low temperature say 20 to 25 C over night, reassemble it and it should be fine.
