I believe that's because she wrote this song thinking of it as a ballad. You see, usually, her live versions on the piano or the guitar reflect the way she wrote them in the first place, and you can notice it in her live acoustic performances how she thought of this one as a slow, lower tone ballad. Maybe the original producer came up with this beat in the middle of the production because they already had too many sad ballads in the album. I can't complain, this came out to be one of the best songs of Red.

I feel like right now, there are millions of us, up late listening to this new release; and somehow connected to each other. Connected in the way we are moved and affected by (in my opinion) the greatest recording artist of this generation. Taylor has created a community of people whose lives have been made just a bit better for being able to hear her music and have it lift our spirits. My best friend and significant other sadly passed away last December. He was a sweet, kind person who cared about helping other people. He liked our family cat, Muffy. He was smart, had a degree in political science. I’m glad I married him, now I don’t know how to move on. But I have to.
