Scented candle is popular worldwide. I agree with her about Bornu and scents. My wife was born in Maiduguri and still always asked for scents to be sent to her from Nigeria. I almost dabbled into scented candle business a while ago to be sold on Amazon but decided on a different product. I also like the 'Made in Nigeria' label. A lot of business lessons learned here. thanks. Tayo, I love the way you are evolving and that is one of the secrets of longevity in any endeavor. Kudos to you and Bukky for bringing us this video. If Scentify ever consider putting their brand on Amazon, I have knowledge about building brand on Amazon marketplace especially the EU markeplace including UK.

@@ComfortCommunity I think the most important step is to be sure whether the type of product you are selling is a product people are searching for. Is it African hair product or generic? If you use scented candle as an example, anyone regardless of race can buy scented candle. If you are selling african air product on Amazon, there might be an argument that majority of African who want to buy the product can just buy from their local african shop. please don't get me wrong, there are people who sell african products online on amazon/ebay/etsy etc and still succeeding. But, the type of product need to be products that have a lot of people going online to search for. basically, research on volume of search before sourcing for a product to sell.

@@akebullanrising3308 This is why many Nigerians are weary of this Pan Africanism concept. Whenever something negative happens even remotely involving Nigeria or Nigerians wether it's true or not Africans are quick to jump on the bandwagon even teaming up with the "enemy" in trying to destroy Nigeria/Nigerians. But the second Nigerians excel or accomplish something; which is usually more than the others, they start shouting the whole "One Africa", "Black excellence" stuff trying to get a piece of the cake sometimes claiming the entire thing. Pan Africanism is not here not even close knock it off.

Interesting! my dad had a candle factory as far back as 1981, the first in old Oyo state and later relocated to ondo state as the first candle factory in ondo state around 1983. He did a few scented candles but found there wasn't much of a market for it. Lack of raw materials at the time forced a closure. Nigeria is more cosmopolitan and scented candles are more desirable. I wish the lady good luck and i hope she grows from strength to strength.

Entrepreneurship need patience and consistency. You just have to preserve. Nowhere is Entrepreneurship easy. In America for instance, About 90% of startups fail. 10% of startups fail within the first year. Across all industries, startup failure rates seem to be close to the same. Failure is most common for startups during years two through five, with 70% falling into this category. So, entrepreneurship challenges are not peculiar to Nigeria. You just have to preserve. The challenges, failures, mistake is part of the stories that makes your history sweet once you made it as entrepreneur. Without it your story will be boring. Kudos to the lady. I love the name of the brand. Keep pushing, Nigeria roads was not build in a day.
