TBH, I was looking at old highlights of the '04 finals. Nobody could guard shaq. All they had to do was pass to shaq and it was an easy dunk. Kobe was the reason why they lost. Kobe wanted to be the hero. He was 10-27 in game 1, 14-27 game 2, 4-13 game 3, 8-25 game 4, and 7-21 in game 5. That's a 38% average for Kobe while shaq had 63%. With all those missed shots Kobe had, those could have went to shaq. They could have won, but I think Kobe is to blame in '04

That 2004 finals between the Pistons and Lakers was tough as a Laker fan. It was the first year Shaq had shown a true decline in his athleticism and overall game. He’d been a 27-29ppg scorer his whole career despite never ending double teams, and that year he averaged 21.5 and just didn’t have that lift and explosion we were used to. Because of that, Detroit had Big Ben defend him one on one without much help at all… in previous years, Shaq would have dropped 50 on his head every night with ease, but this version of Shaq was very good, just not the beast he used to be. Kobe was 100% prime Kobe, but Prince drove him nuts the entire series. It was this series that made me say “Kobe is great, but he’s no MJ, MJ would never get handled like this”. Kobe scored 22 per game off a pathetic 38% shooting. Prince shut him down. Mix in the fact that the Glove was washed, and the mailman who was their best defender by far, tore his knee… and those Pistons toyed with the Lakers, ending their Dynasty. All good things must come to an end.
@Mr_TatorHead

The Pistons also knew Kobe was guarding Rip all series and purposely had Rip running everywhere around the whole court just to wear him down further.

Compare 04 Shaq to 05 Shaq and it’s obvious how much this man allowed himself to slip. Everyone says “If Kobe and him stayed together…” Honestly, Shaq needed this. He was way too content in Los Angeles, and way too stubborn to change. The Heat trade easily added another 3 seasons to his career.

LeBron is a big massive dude. He is physically a specimen that was fortunate to be born as big. Kobe had to drive harder and be more physical because of his smaller frame. If Kobe just had the ability to palm a ball with his hands, he'd be even more lights out. I like me some LeBron, minus the flopping, but Kobe was on some other level.
@BetoTheButcher
@BetoTheButcher 7 жыл бұрын
niikes Kobe would train harder than any other player in the league. Watch videos of other players say how much of a beast he was in practice and the off season, he'd show up hours before a game. So your guess is wrong. All men grow bigger as they get older, but Lebron has a bigger frame, us taller and just bigger.

It's crazy that everyone discredits the 3 peat cause of shaq.... Shaq was drafted in 92 didn't win a ship until he got with Kobe as a full time starter in 00' nearly 10 years!!! Was swept by the rockets in the 95 finals with The Dream who avg 32.8 11.5rebs 5.5ast 2.0stls 2.0blks ON SHAQ!!!!! And swept them 4-0 Shaq had a team The had 57wins and had penny hardaway 6'7 smooth pg who avg 25 8. & 4 that series... sooooo save me with the weak facts Had another magic team that had 60wins and got swept again by Jordan in the conf. When he cam back from retirement shaq needed another player with an skill set as Kobe all around elite skill set... he had a facilitator in penny and got swept multiple times 0-3 by pacers magic when penny avg 20+ 57win team 0-4 bulls jordan after retirement with a 60 win team 0-4 by Malone when Kobe didn't start 50+ win team 0-4 by spurs when Kobe didn't start 50+ win team Kobe first starting yr.... when they went to playoffs is when he won his first championship...period Mamba🐍 Kobe avg 28 and shaq avg 28 that 2nd ship of the 3peat And on the 3rd trip Kobe avg 30 in the playoffs and shaq avg 30.... sooooo who needed who 🤔

how do you idiots say kobe is overrated when actual NBA players that played against him give him the utmost respect, even the players who you try and compare to him to hold im the highest esteem. youre an idiot if you don't think kobe is one of the best ever...the guy played both ends of the floor at an elite level for about 15 years, came through for his team time after time...he was once considered the best closer in the game because he would take over the 4th quarters of games...you new nba fans look at stats and judge a player when all that really matters is winning and only one player in his generation who won at the rate he did was tim duncan...you don't have to degrade kobe and how great he was to argue the greatness of another player. 5 titles does not equate to overrated. 11 first team all nba selections does not equate to overrated, double digit appearances on thw nba's all defensive team does not equal overrated and not to mention he was the most feared scored in the game in his era

Like he's a great player bt Kobe and MJ were a defenders worst nightmare and with that, came 4th quarters that were completely taken over by 1 guy and the defense cudnt stop it, equally 11 rings thru the two of them, LBJ doesn't have that and thats why wen It comes down to the nitty gritty and u need a final 3 mins of fire power he passes and that way he dnt have to hit the final shots down the stretch. bt then those players miss and he loses bt the loss isn't on him? HELL NAW its deff on his lack of skill that 2 other guys DO HAVE and wudve gotten it DONE.

They forgot Kobe would also guard the best player on the opposing team EVERY SINGLE GAME. Not only would he kill on offense but he would shut down the best players consistently. Lebron guards the weakest front court player almost always. What superstar would willingly guard someone like Iverson, Tmac, Kyrie, Durant, Westbrook, Chris Paul, Nash, Paul Pierce I can go on all night. Kobe stepped up and was incredible on both ends definitely can’t say that about Lebron.

List goes on) he can definitely do it and do it well which is precisely why he will make an all defence team in his 17th season and he was Robbed of DPOY in 2013. (Gasol didn’t even make the all defence first team. How do you give DPOY to a dude who isn’t 1st team all defence?)
