I just got my TB test done. Coming from someone who has a huge fear of needles it wasn’t bad. Of course I started to tear up as I get myself worked up, but once it happened I was like “oh”. It’s not bad, it’s such a little pinch . You barley feel it. Afterwards it isn’t bad either.

Honestly felt only a sort of tight sensation. Your arm has less nerves in that area and the needle is pretty small. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt

Alright listen up folks. I am the WORST when it comes to needles. Even typing the word makes me uneasy. I'd rather jump out of a plane by myself then get a poke, that's how bad it is for me. THAT BEING SAID, I DREADED getting my TB test even though people said not to worry about it. My nervous self didn't listen and continued to feel anxious. I got it today and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought. When people say "it's just a pinch", usually I think that's bs but it's actually true. If you pinched a small area of your skin, the sensation of a tb test is the same. Good luck everyone who's probably doing what I did, look up videos of people getting TB tests/vaccines to see their reactions. :)

Tdap is only tetanus, diphtheria, and pertusis (whooping cough). They have nothing to do with Tuberculosis. TB test results are only good for a max of 2 years, so they have to be done when you enter a new school or the public health field. Also, tuberculosis is not deadly in an otherwise healthy person unless it's left untreated, so don't worry. But you do need the test, because symptoms don't arise until the late stages of TB. Hope this helps.

The TB test does not hurt whatsoever. The needle is introduced on the upper layer of the skin, meaning no nerves involved. I dunno where people are getting this ridiculous assumption that it "hurts."

You obviously don't realize there are 2 parts to the skin called EPIDERMIS and DERMIS. The TB test does not touch the dermis, which has nerve endings. Please stop being ignorant fool and learn something.

CDC states that 0-4 mm of a white wheel I’d negative. If no white wheel is present, that means it is 0 mm. Thus, you’re negative!

I took a test on Monday (almost two days ago), and Wednesday (in a few hours) I am getting it read... I have some redness around the area, and I think there's a slight bit of induration (tbh i have no idea what that means), it's like sorta raised or swollen I guess, no big bump or anything tho... Coz mine read 48 hours on dot after injection, totally clear no swelling no redness, but after a few hours approximately 56 hours like that, it started to change color n there's a little swell around it n now almost 3 weeks, mine hasn't disappear n I'm totally worried. Sorry 8 years later. If you don't show TB, you either have immunity to it or you have it hidden and walled off in your body at the moment. The mantoux test checks to see if you have an immune reaction. If you do, you were exposed at one point. It suggests you do have it, if you didn't have the vaccine for it. If you had the vaccine, you would show the same reaction all because it's your immune system attacking the material injected.

Because when I had mine done in 1995 there was no checking for 15 minutes to see if I had an allergic reaction, no follow up appointment, no nothing. Are you Canadian ? i was diagnosed of latent tuberculosis using mantoux test, test was done last december 5 2008, and the injection site turn out to be a 2.5 cm or 25 mm of blister like burn, after 2 days, and later when the fluids drained by itself the site turned into wound, but my doctor said that i have LTBI, i underwent testing .

Also here's a tip to not get scared step 1: look away from the needle it helps because if you look while there doing it your Hanna get. Scared and it will hurt step 2: don't think about the shot think about something gods or interesting . That's what I did and it didn't hurt it just pinches .scale of 1-10 I would rate the pane a 1 and the half but if your sensitive to pain I will rate it 2 and the half or 3. Just do those steps and you'll be fine and if you don't take the test you can't go to school you have to take it one every 5 years in order to go to school I'm scared just don't think about it.

They do that so you don't have to go back for them to read results. It's more foolproof then having someone read the results of a skin test that is so easy to mess up.

Jason Rothfeld Thank you. I wrote it a long time ago. I've had many ppds in my life because of my work. I was just over worrying back in August and I never ended up needing it because this place I was going to volunteer/job shadow at was absolutely ridiculous. They led me on for 3 weeks and they day I got there for the ppd, waking up around 6:15 am they tell me they're not taking job shadowers at the time because then some long winded bs excuse. Oh flu shots I don't even feel them. The only pain I really can't stand are burns which is why childbirth really scares me. But I'd like to have at least 1 kid in my life. I think I could manage not to mess up 1 kid's life lol. Yeah needles never really bothered me, but burns. Oh I think about all those people in the past who were burnt at the stake and when I die (in my bed, peacefull in my sleep in my 90s maybe a 102 but let's not push our luck) I'd like to donate my skin to the burned firefighters cause. You know what really hurts about a needle when it does hurt? When they don't wait long enough for the rubbing alcohol to dry.

I still remember how when I was in preschool 15 years ago I got the old-fashioned "tine test" and that certainly was painful, especially since there were four needles poking you at the same time (and I also wasn't expecting it, didn't think it would be an invasive thing). It doesn't tell you what is a negative it only tells you positive. How do you know before you go in if it's a negative?

a00r then you're fine, or in other words, you don't have Tuberculosis and haven't had contact with it. Testing positive means you might have it. Just be happy if its negative lol :)
