Good luck to you. We're fortunate over here in the states that it's extremely rare, so much so I'd never heard of testing or the problem until I watched your and Tom P's videos. Best wishes.

Ah it’s a horrible time. We had reactors and inconclusives that had to go in our annual test last year. Same as you we’re a closed herd, only cattle that had grazed in one particular field got it though, and while we’ve had them all housed over winter, we have had 2 clear tests. They’re back out grazing now though, so who knows what the next test will bring. Sorry for the stressful few months you will have now. Best wishes from just across the border 🏴

Very sorry to hear Richard its a hard enough job without jumping loopholes like this TB testing it must be heartbreaking for all the family to see so much work you put into producing fabulous animals to see them having to go to slaughter. Not in the UK, so have no knowledge of this, but does the government provide the testing free of charge, and do you get any compensation for the loss of 3 good milk cows? Is there any research on how the TB is getting around since you mentioned that you have a closed herd? I have sheep, not cows, and yes, the closed herd is so protective of issues.
@thefunkyfarmer3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes the tests are funded by government and so is the compensation. A lot of blame is pointed at badgers and deer

Down to experience here, we have got rid of our inconclusive animals in the past. Sorry for your loss. I hate tb testing.

@derekbyers52843 жыл бұрын
Its results in huge increase in your daily work load, we have 70 calves to feed n bed & take care of , all of which usually be sold on at 3 -4 weeks old, we also are a closed herd, got our first 60 day test last week ,clear thank god, so hopefully 🙏. TB spread is still being blamed on wildlife , badgers, & deer’s, is that the same in your part of the u.k?

Man that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. It's sure not easy for us people doing farming and ranching you're always barely getting by. Well, I guess you're going to have to be the funky chicken farmer for a while. Selling those yummy eggs on the side of the road. Well like you say you got to crack on.

How often do you have to get them tested
@stufrst3 жыл бұрын
I really do feel for you, those animals don’t ask to have tb, but yet if they catch it it’s good bye, does anyone know if it badgers that spread it???? Who knows, good luck for the next test I hope it is all clear and life can go on, keep up the good work.

Question Richard when your shut down with tb can milk lorry still come and lift milk
@derekbyers52843 жыл бұрын
Well Richard, I know exactly how your feeling now, this tb is a scurge , our farm, tested positive, with two dairy cows , four days before Christmas , 2020, these were two in calf cows, due in early January, that ment I couldn’t get them away from the farm until almost the end of January, ok we are well compensated for these animals, but that’s not the point, it results in a hush
@byamrcn3 жыл бұрын
Ugh, was just thinking the other day that you haven't had any TB issues for quite a while. Well you guys hang in there, you've made it through this before and you will this time too.
