I'm going to ruin the joke by explaining it but she's making those weird faces because of the laughter. In the song she says something about in sitcoms theres laughter whenever you speak or something so when she talks and they laugh she..... Yeah. And then when she says rock the boat no one laughs or whatever so Howard says yeah they don't all work meaning the audience doesn't laugh at everything. Does that make more sense? It's a lame lame lame lame joke
