As a trucker, a tear nearly came to my eye regarding the fact that you cleared a path and were prepared with the ramps. You'd be surprised how many people would expect a driver to just send it and fuck their suspension up on the curb and then fit it through the gate like fitting 10lb a shit in an 8 lb sack. Just know that they noticed, and your effort was appreciated.

I’ve always been intrigued by shipping container homes. Mainly because you can literally pop a little woodstove in them and live in them as they are. A little 20 footer would be a nice little Airbnb. But it has me thinking. What if you were just to buy the same gauge steel that they use in the corners that heavy I-beam stuff and build your own rectangles and weld them together? And then instead of a rippled skin on the side, you just did quarter inch sheet metal down the whole side. I feel like you could do it for the same price you could buy one for except you would get a package that you could build dimensionally bigger than a shipping container while still being movable just like a shipping container and significantly stronger. Lots of people like shipping containers because it’s a big metal box and they think they’re bulletproof. Well, I hate to tell you, but the only thing that might stop is a 22. Anything else is going through. Now structurally yes, a shipping container can last a very long time especially if you maintain it. Clean the leaves off the top every year and all that jazz. I’m not a fan of traditional stick framing I feel like we just do it because it’s significantly cheaper than every other option and in the case of something being damaged you can replace sections of a house pull down walls put up new walls, etc. It’s really hard to do that with steel and concrete structures but again the pros are steel and concrete is significantly stronger. There’s still bunkers on Normandy that have been blasted with artillery and bullets that are still standing there to this day. But again, I feel like if you were to buy flat sheet metal doesn’t even have to be a quarter inch thick. It could be an eighth of an inch thick and just buy yourself some really heavy gauge square tubing you could build your own container to the dimensions that you like rather than just being what’s on the market and you could weld up extra bracing in the middle and just personalize it better for around the same price. Which I think would be significantly stronger than your average shipping container.
@aaroneckardt5514
@aaroneckardt5514 3 ай бұрын
Shipping containers are such an ignorant scam. Unless you are asking yourself "What is the most expensive way to make something?" OR "How can I make a project just cost more and make a lot of extra special work?". If you didn't ask yourself these questions. Then a container is absolutely insane.

Lmao shipping container homes are such an awful idea in practice. You have to basically buy a new container which gets rid of the whole point of being eco friendly (you don’t know what types of toxic chemicals containers have carried over the years) you have to heavily modify it with insulation and wiring just to live in it, and then it’s cramped. Just wild people still pretend it works

I'm pretty sure you will get mold build up at some point. I remember reading on why shipping container is not practical. Here they are: 1. Structural integrity will be compromised by any holes or screws, like wall nails and sewages 2. Proper weatherproof insulation will cost too much for this project for it to be considered cheap 3. Interior installations will create so much unusable space and makes it very impractical 4. Brand new shipping container cost a lot, and the old ones could have had hazardous material inside it, or have become structurally unsound 5. It might also cost you a ton to make your shipping container house fit to the zoning law of your area
@roblapouple7552

@@ricos4700 yeah but then again if you're building a 10 story high building, the structure integrity of shipping container building with wooden interior reinforcement will not be able to compete with the traditional rebar concrete structure.
