"If you like a video: what did you like about it?" I don't remember what video of yours that line is from, but every time I click "like" on a video I hear an echo of that in my mind. I don't care about anime at all, but your thoughts and analyses are always interesting, and every so often something like that will stick with me.
@jadedjake7 жыл бұрын
To address your first point, I've stuck around on Digibro After Dark because I find allot of what you say, and especially how you think, incredibly relatable. It is wonderfully cathartic, especially when you pull something like last night and articulate something that's been bugging me forever. (Gigguk's vid tilted me aswell). (On top of all that, you did also red pill my view of art)
@YamiAi7 жыл бұрын
I think he understands the word. Cathartic can mean that you gain relief through expression of strong emotions, which can be done by watching a video that resonates with you strongly. The meaning of catharsis isn't only locked to Greek tragedy.
@Lyphonix7 жыл бұрын
asteorom, he used 'cathartic' right, what are you talking about?
@jadedjake7 жыл бұрын
>It would have been catharsis if, by witnessing Digi's anger, Magic Mason had suddenly thought to himself that there were other people that did think like him and felt relieved over the revelation he was not the last sane person left on the planet and others were noticing the bullshit within the anime "community" and the shit it gets away with.
@jadedjake7 жыл бұрын
No, ffs stop digging for subtly out of a YT comment. I know what the word means and with elaboration I could prove it was not used improperly, explaining more context behind why I said what I did. But it's irreverent, so please, stop trying so desperately to be right. It has little to do with the idea behind the comment.

You're making a good amount of money now - why not plan a trip? Go to Europe or Japan, or explore South America. Even if your close friends can't afford to come with you, a lot of people I know have gained exhilaration and/or perspective that they badly needed through journeying through foreign places by themselves and with the help of locals. It's not the worst idea in the world. Either way, I hope you find what you're looking for soon.

Thank goodness Digi is aware enough to say out loud that he's doing what he's doing for himself, I appreciate that, everyone at the heart of it all does everything for themselves. Although it's saddening to hear about the depression, my best friend struggles with it every day so I'm happy I still have her around each day. If someone is passionate about something, that enthusiasm will transfer to others; hence why certain creators have others watch their content more and more. Side note: At what point does it become not okay to base your stylings on anothers work before it decreases into plagerism? If you base your original structures on someone who inspired you, but then build on top of that to create something that is all your own, isn't that fine? Nothing original exists anymore but each individual can certainly add their own flavour to it.

You've more than achieved what you feel is good writing: I always think about your Insomnia analysis video, more precisely that bit about what your artistic voice is and what it means to treat your art as a product, and what exactly is your art. I can't relate to it as much as I'd like to, because I haven't found my voice yet, or in what medium I want my voice to be, but I feel like I have this deep desire to create. I feel we're alike in the way we analyse everything, and on top of that I overthink everything and I'm prone to anxiety, which is not a good combination. that's what has been holding me down, because as much as I want to leave my mark, it always implies that it has to be seen by people, and that's so fucking scary to me. Especially the first thing that I'll put out there, because that first thing will be critical to whether people come back or not. That's why seeing you constantly put your work, or yourself, actually, out there, in an extremely popular medium, and about a subject that is not respected by a lot of people, is so fucking empowering, you have no idea. I really look up to you. Most of the time when I watch your videos, I don't do it to be entertained, which I am, but first to push my thoughts in a certain direction. I often feel like I learn something extremely valuable. You've probably seen the Pewdiepie video about forced positivity. Your bit in this video where you talk about people watching videos to be entertained versus watching other videos to get something out of them, it touches on that subject, and then some. Because entertainers will craft a positive image to ease the viewing of their videos , and to get people to come back, whereas you also put work in to make your content more easy to digest. But I don't feel you go out of your way to craft a fake image, or to make your content seem more enticing than what it's actually worth. You're extremely authentic, and I respect you for that, but more importantly I'm extremely captivated. So, yeah, sorry for this long ass comment, I tried to make it as short as I could but I wanted to let you know how I feel about you and what you do for a while now. And on top of that I'm not used to writing, so I'm sorry if it's redundant. I actually had more on my mind but it's all jumbled now lol I hope you read this, and I know you don't have any incentive to do it, but i'd love to have a chat with you some time. peace

You know, there are few things I've found that I can connect with, I've listened to tons of albums managing to evoke some emotion with me but very few that I can feel confident and proud with recommending to others, same goes for anime, visual novels, games, manga, books, movies etc. But when it comes to people, that's where I have a hard time, because more often than not I connect to the work but not the person behind it, that was until I found you Digi. I have several favorite youtubers and youtube videos, but you are my favorite person, and much for the same reason I love Michiru and Tomoko, because I can relate to a lot of what you say, and your passion for writing inspires me to seek work in some field where I can do the same even though my highschool really isn't the place for that and I feel suicidal whenever I go there. I don't know where I am going with this comment, just like you I am long-winded but I haven't gotten any good at writing yet and english isn't my first language so this is all probably a mess by now. In short: I like your content Digi and I like you as a person, I enjoy listening to your voice and I agree with a lot of your opinions on various matters and I feel refreshed after being reminded of your existence and you probably hate this comment because I say the same things over and over again without getting to any other point other than "Thanks".

I am sorry you feel this way, Digi. I am not the best at giving advises, espetially for this kind of situations, but maybe you could try to write a story, or something else that engage you, other than talk about anime. If you can't find an idea or topic, you could write about the way you feel and use those negative emotions in a constructive manner. Other than this, if you have the possibility and you want to, go outside and try to stay around your friends and family. Also, you should try to drink less. But this are just personal suggestions. In the end, do what you feel is right for you. Wish you the best and I hope your journey will make you feel better!

Digi you have convinced people of your opinions. You've made me understand the power that Cowboy Bebop has, and made me want to watch it with "You'll Carry That Weight." Your videos about SAO have swayed me. I was never a huge fan of it (although I remember enjoying the Aincrad arc a bit before Alfheim dropped it off the deep end), but your video actually raised some valid points. Your Asterisk Wars videos were interesting, albeit having less impact on me than the previous videos I mentioned. You come across to me as abrasive and as you say have a reasonably large ego, but damn it, your videos ARE insightful. They ARE passionate, and believe it or not I haven't seen much of this channel as your main one. In fact I prefer your main channel because some of the videos on this channel come across to me as stroking your ego and poking fun at other KZbinrs. Oddly enough the least offensive was the drunken rant that seems to have become the focus of a lot of the issues right now. You made some points that ARE easy to fix (some of the statements such as RC Anime's voice being annoying were harsh and unfair, since you can't choose the voice you have at birth). That said one can learn to both modulate their voice and as you also demonstrated edit a video to sound better. Despite my distaste for some of your vlogs (an example being "The Most Boring Taste in Anime") I love your scripted content. I loved that two hour rant about SAO not because I hate the anime and want to watch it burn but because you made more than a few valid points in it. Hell I liked the videos about MLP despite the fact that I'm not a member of the fandom (I think I only saw one them about the episode where the characters went to some kind of royal ball and were heavily disappointed by the experience). They were weaker for sure, and they lacked something I couldn't put my finger on, but they still showed passion (possibly it's something in how you spoke, though it's possible I just lack experience in the fandom itself). You may not be quite the same as people like Nerdwriter, CGP Grey, Veritasium, and god knows what other intellectual vloggers that are out there, but you are up there. Know that you HAVE made a difference, even in the life of one filthy fucking casual of an anime fan. Screw the drama, and keep doing what you're doing man. I can't wait to see what else you'll come up with next.

You should go people watching. Go to some public places, or outside seating at restaurants, and just chill. Film some vlog shit from there. I only recommend this because you've been stating for a while that you're bored with where you are and think that moving will change things for the better. Trust me, you're going to fall into that same rut no matter where you are, unless you change the habits you've formed. You're a habitual hermit. You can find motivation/inspiration to make temporary changes, but motivation is garbage. Dedication and willpower are what matter. Force yourself out of your comfort zone, because you can *make* your comfort zone anywhere, and thats a problem.

I think the important thing that Digi is trying to get across is that he wants anime you-tuber's videos to resonate with people, educate and change the conversation around anime. If that was the point he was trying to get across then it was best to simply start his videos off with the question : "when was the last time you watched a video about anime and it made you deeply rethink about the anime you watched." When you get to the guts of all this conversation this is what he is trying to say. Why don't other peoples videos provoke more thought than, "that was an entertaining video"? That seems to be his problem with channels like glass reflection, gigguk, the anime man, mistyxchornexia. They tend to echo public opinion, rather than try to change the conversation. Honestly I don't very much care for where this conversation going since you digi threw so much negative energy into the conversation. But I do want to ask digi a question. How is someone supposed to responded to your criticism? A video explaining the difference between insults and critique, and how you would ideally expect someone to take your criticism would be most appreciated. Even if it is a drunken rant...

@Digibro: you say you're bored with your life, you also said you wanted to learn Japanese (in order to move to Japan) in a previous video, isn't it the right time to do so now then ? I've attended evening classes in Japanese for 2 years before going to Japan myself (as a Rotary excange student) and I can tell you that the sooner you start (to learn Japanese), the better. Also, learning a new language is very stimulating on an intellectual level, and will require daily discipline and willpower from you, which is always good. Lastly; Japan has decided to accept mainly "useful" immigration only as of late, so if you don't have any sort of qualifications that they need, you won't be able to get a visa easily. When I was in Japan, I saw a lot of American/English/Australian etc who had been accepted as English teacher, so maybe get a "Language Teaching" diploma of some sort as well before you think about moving in Japan, or even asking for a visa.

If you want your videos to change the focus and attitude of the anime analysis community, I think the best next step to take is to give people more reason to care about the points you make (like Egoraptor did in the sequelitis series), because as it stands for your main channel videos I feel as though you're mostly just giving analysis without trying to get the audience invested in it.

Did you turn off your related tags for this channel? Dear Digi, I'm a razor fan myself but he fucks up quite a bit, and once you head down that road you open yourself up to alot of mistakes and push back. Your free to express yourself as you see fit, but I look forward to pushing back here and here, I hope that's not an issue. 6:30, you had videos like that, you turn around and unlisted them lol. Which is your call, I've enjoyed your work, but have I learned anything from digi and anime? No. I've been entertained, and I wouldn't hold that as a a bad thing. Entertainment is an art form, I'm fine calling you an artist, i think your asking for alot, and your acting a little to bright eyed and bushy tailed like your still a kid, you can;t be this naive. Your gonna run yourself out of another fandom digi, and this time it'll be on you.

Hey digi. I think you got me to the dot with the first few minutes of this video. At this point, I'm watching more of your "After Dark" channel than your main, and I am invested in you as a person. So I feel oddly melancholy seeing you in this introspective mood, but I'd like to think that this will help you move to whatever it is you want to do now - and I'm pretty sure that I'll be watching it. On a side not, have you watched Noah Caldwell-Gervais' videos? I'm pretty sure you have, but on the off chance, I think you'll like them a lot.

I watched Gi(a)rlish Number specifically to see that video. Can't you upload it on Dailymotion like you used to?
Have you tried going to a therapist or taking medication for depression recently? Maybe you should try it. Best of luck Digi. Maybe rearrange your room or paint it to give yourself something to do.

The part on depression is really relatiable but still I think that your situation is a lot better than people who have no career at all.

Would you say, Digi (or anyone's opinion), that you'd rather have people copy your style and create a homogeneous anime KZbin scene, than have varying types of channels that cover more ground? I often fear that I'm copying other channels too much in my videos, so I'm curious.

Giguk's said thigns that will stick with me forever. Like "Tsudnere's aren't Bitches, they're just misunderstood".
@TheAlison14567 жыл бұрын
Only Tsundere i know that is misunderstood is Asuka, and i'm not even sure
@Kuudere-Kun7 жыл бұрын
Yes I do disagree with the whole "Asuka is the best written Tsundere" school Giguk comes from. I actually hate the whole idea that a Trauma is required to make it realistic.

What about that one girl from the Astricks wars?
@hardgay75377 жыл бұрын
Maybe I need to update my animu cred, but best written Tsundere is easily Senjougahara-sama. Though rather like Asuka, the tsundere schtick is handled well when the trope is treated like a mental hangup bordering on mental illness. And fuck if both shows don't have characters with hangups bordering on mental illness.

Is this the start of the Dark tournament saga of the Anime KZbin community? Does this make Digi Toguro?

Imo I'd prefer more videos like Girlish Number. I like it when you do deep analysis into a single series instead of doing broader topics. Your new K-on video on vidme for example I really like.

Digi, for your own sanity, you've gotta find a second thing you're passionate about. From a self-improvement/psych maniac clawing out of depression and isolation myself, getting out of one place and finding more things to care about/more people to relate to outside the internet kills depression pretty damn well. I guess that's why you're moving, but when you do you gotta take the initiative to leave the house and look for something, rather than getting trapped in the same pattern. Sorry for the unfortunate preachiness, be well man.
