that's cause the game is using unsupported chinese characters, you have to change the default language in non-unicode programs to chinese in control panel then restart your computer for them to show up properly

This doesn’t feel like an early version of pvz it looks so creepy and the music for the title screen isn’t fitting all the words are like symbols some plants look very creepy and out of place same for the zombies too there’s also blood splats not to mention the odd silence in some places like the zen garden and the title screen is very creepy and some songs are probably not from PVZ at all
