The waitress who gives Eastwood all the sugar is Mara Corday. She's an actress primarily from the 50s appearing in monster movies like "The Giant Claw" and "Tarantula". In that movie, Eastwood has a small part as a jet pilot. Later in life, she had financial problems as her husband died and was left with children to raise. Eastwood got her parts in some of his movies to help out.

Good catch! Mara Corday was quite the looker in her day. Her husband was Richard Long from Nanny and the Professor, The Big Valley, 77 Sunset Street and Bourban Street Beat. He died in his forties. Mara Corday (in her day) had a striking resemblence to actress Gina Gershon.

Fun Fact: Sudden Impact was not originally supposed to be the fourth Dirty Harry movie. The Outlaw Josey Wakes is my favorite Clint Eastwood movie, that and High Plains Drifter -- both are westerns that I hope you react to.

You are right about the dark heavy feeling. "The Dead Pool" isn't so dark.
@LarryFleetwood8675 Жыл бұрын
Clint had a dark cinematic phase in the '80s and even The Rookie (1990) had it.

It's not a Dirty Harry film, but I can't recommend "In The Line of Fire" (1993) enough. Clint as an old-school Secret Service agent, with John Malkovich and Rene Russo.

There is one other Clint movie that "isn't " a Dirty Harry movie but is like a Dirty Harry movie. The Gauntlet which also stars Sandra Locke.
@briankirchhoefer Жыл бұрын
You should check out the Gauntlet. Clint is a cop similar to dirty harry who is trying to get a mob witness to court. Lots of action also with Sandra Locke.

The semiauto handgun Harry uses is an AMC Auto Mag Model 180 chambered in .44 AMP with an 8.5" barrel. When his Smith & Wesson Model 29 is kicked off of a dock by Mick (Paul Drake), he replaces it with his Auto Mag for the remainder of the film. Much like the S&W Model 29 in the first film, the production crew had a very difficult time acquiring this gun, to the point where they had to contact the original designer, Harry Sanford, who had enough parts in his basement to build two guns for the film. These guns were custom made with serial numbers "CLINT-1" and "CLINT-2". The "CLINT-1" gun was left in live firing mode so Eastwood could train with it to accurately depict recoil while "CLINT-2" was converted to fire blanks for the film. It is rumored that the "CLINT-2" gun was extremely unreliable cycling blank cartridges during production, to the great consternation of Mr. Eastwood. Post-production, it was used for an episode of T.J. Hooker, where it also experienced cycling issues. It currently resides in a private collection. "CLINT-1" was retained by Mr. Eastwood. If you want more Sandra Locke and Clint Eastwood (non- Dirty Harry, they were a couple for several years), check out The Gauntlet, Bronco Billy, and the comedies Every Which Way But Loose, and Any Which Way You Can

The "Jennifer" character was Clint Eastwood's real life girl for a while and was in several of his movies. The Outlaw Josey Wales, for one. Thanks guys. Ya gotta remember crime and muggings, ect., were on the rise in the 1970's. Movies starring Clint and Charles Bronson types were big hits. Rouge cops bending the rules and vigilante justice was really popular with the movie people out in Hollywood and the general public just ate it up. Eastwood turned 90 yrs. old his last birthday and Is a national treasure, as far as I am concerned. Thank you guys. Great pick and beautiful reaction. I really enjoy your style. Shoutout from Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Go w/ God. Much Peace and love, y'all.

Clint is one of those few actors who doesn't really have a bad movie to his name, although I personally think his last good one in the classic Clint sense was Blood Work (2002).

When I first saw this movie back in the days , I loved the final scene of Harry on the pier holding his gun. And all you heard was the high hat symbols of the drum. They all froze in their place , even the blond . And Harry started taking them down one by one . Reminds me of his " The Good , The Bad & The Ugly Days ". Even " UNFORGIVEN "
