When Chandler gets home, Joey stops him in the hallway and tells him Monica left, but when he enters the apartment, he sees that Monica is there and has decorated the whole apartment with candles. They tearfully propose to each other. Chandler asks, “Monica, will you marry me?” and Monica says yes. Joey, Phoebe, and Rachel rush in to celebrate with the two.

Just revisited this clip after hearing the death of Matthew Perry today 😭 Matthew Perry was truly a phenomenal actor who was one of a kind on Friends. His portrayal as Chandler Bing brought us so much laughter and charisma to audiences and I’ve been so grateful to binge watch Friends episodes back to back. Rewatching this clip really hits me differently after hearing about Matthew Perry’s death and we will all miss him so much 😭💔 Matthew, thank you for being there for us. I think Friends is a mixed bag in certain aspects but Monica and Chandler is easily one of the best written romantic relationships I've seen in a TV show. Apparently, the writers initially planned for both Chandler and Richard to propose to Monica, with it being a mystery over who she'd pick. However, they immediately realised that it was obvious that she'd ultimately choose Chandler, so the storyline was altered accordingly.
