Great thing about the 5th is doesn’t matter what key you select. Also the toneprints are great. I put octaves in mine. Eliminates the need for an octave pedal.
@SeanPierceJohnson6 жыл бұрын
True. Though I have found it can be a bit touchy. There was a firmware update a short while after I got mine but then TC redesigned their website and I couldn't find it anymore.

Except for the 7th note of the major scale which needs a flat 5th.

It’s such a good harmonizer, but I really wish they didn’t include all of the modes- anyone who has reasonable theory knowledge (the kind that will actually be exploring past straight major and minor harmony) will be able to quickly recall the relative major of whichever mode they wish to use. These TC pedals typically have 11 knob positions Max- if they had the scale knob with eleven positions: Major, Melodic Minor, Hungarian Minor, Octatonic, Whole Tone, and 6 custom slots, it would be so much more versatile! Hell- even if they kept it to 7 positions, and only gave us 2 custom slots it would be way more useful.
@johncruz18115 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. The reviewer is explaining the modes like they’re are there own entity. When they’re are all starting & stoping points of major scale. Well the ones on the pedal..
@3star2nr4 жыл бұрын
You can tone print all of that ...
@doubled5383 Жыл бұрын
@@johncruz1811 Isn't the point though is to choose the mode and the interval, so the pedal, say, knows that the 4th has to be sharped in Lydian vs. non-sharped in Ionian, etc.? So if you play a note, it knows "add the #4 interval". It has nothing to do with whether you know modes, it is how the pedal knows how to add the proper interval. I have never used this pedal, just looking into it. Tell me if I am thinking about it wrong.

@@doubled5383 Key of c C ionian or c major CDEFGABC F Lydian or f major FGABCDEF New key of g G Ionian or G major GABCDEF#G C Lydian or c major CDEF#GABC Do you see how the Lydian mode is just a starting and stopping point on the major key/scale. So let’s say you’re soloing in C major and you want to get the Lydian sound all you would have to do is play in the key of G major. Now let’s say you also want to add a harmony to your Lydian solo. Set it to ionian and play in G major. There are plenty of people that say you need to know each mode individually, And not to think of it from its major home. I’m not saying they’re right or wrong. but, for the instance of a small pedal with limited space, it makes sense to think of it that way. So, you can use the other slots for other exotic scales.

Thanks Sean my question is on the early queen recordings what was the most common interval that Brian May used with his Eventide Harmonizers please?
@SeanPierceJohnson6 жыл бұрын
Hey Will, I'm not much of a Brian May expert but I know he often threw Thirds into his harmonies. I also hear fifths and sixths in his harmonies as well. If anyone who sees this knows more than I do about Brian May's tone please do chime in! - Sean

SeanPierceJohnson aw thank you Sean I first got interested in Brian Mays sound around Night At The Opera so I ended up getting a Rocktron Intelefex I have been chasing Brian Mays harmonies ever since
@vaporman4424 жыл бұрын
I’m not a Brian May expert by any means, but I have heard and replicated the guitar tracks of Bohemian Rhapsody. On that song he doesn’t use a harmonizer-he plays the individual parts. And they aren’t simple intervals. Some of the harmonies rise when the melody falls or vice-versa. So it wouldn’t be possible to exactly replicate with a harmonizer.
@HANGINWITHTHEDREAMER4 жыл бұрын
Bob Carroll I have seen dr. Mays rig along time ago right around Night at the opera and he had multiple Eventide Harmonizers so I guess I will always lean to the h9 series of pedals although I do love tc electronic on the subject of guitar tracking I definitely understand the concept of layering tracks

@SeanPierceJohnson5 жыл бұрын
thanks so much! glad to explain the theory. I always put harmonizer/pitch shifter FIRST in my chain. So from Guitar to pitch pedal. In my experience this gets you the most accurate harmonizing and pitch shifting. I never run stuff like this in the loop...but that's just me

Are those delay intervals near the end a Tone Print or did you use a delay pedal? This would be trippy paired with my Echolution 2 Ultra Pro. Thanks.

I achieved those through the Toneprint app. You can adjust a small delay time of the two harmonized notes to create the cascading effect.

Hi, thanks for share this great video tutorial, i noticed you record both tracks of the Quintessence (original tone and harmonized), i want it to record both lines at once to avoid make 2 diferent guitar lines, scales etc. How do you notice the fast tracking lines, licks, fast scales pasages, good job ? any tone sucking ?.. thx for ur answer
@SeanPierceJohnson5 жыл бұрын
Hi Giovanni, So I’m going to answer as best I can. I do record both at the same time using the Blend/Mix control on the pedal. I don’t think you can send the Dry guitar to one output and the harmony to the other. As far as I notice, the audio tracks very well. I don’t have many issues outside of the pitches not being in the selected keys. As far as tone suck I didn’t notice any.

Is the knob with just major based scales redundant if you already have a key knob ? (C major (ionian) = D dorian = E phrygian =F lydian = G myxolydian = A aeolian = B (nobody cares ;)) Would be nice if they had used that knob for some alternative scales :)

What are the „key” and „scale” knobs for? He turns them but it is him who plays in these different scales and keys, not the pedal.
@Sylkis892 ай бұрын
Key selects if the scale you picked is in C, D, E, F, G, H/B, A and the in-betweens Scale selects what type of a scale if a dur/major or moll/minor or another

Hi can you tell us your settings for the harp like effect at the end?
@SeanPierceJohnson3 жыл бұрын
man, I made this video three years ago...i have no idea what I did. what I can tell you is you have to use the Toneprint editor to make it happen...you can mess with the delay times of the harmonized pitches.
@hraedarthebard6283 Жыл бұрын
Can anybody explain what difference the mode knob makes compared to just setting the pedal for the relative major key, or is this just a wasted knob?
@GreenHoleSun25 күн бұрын
Absolutely no wasted knob. The scale selector defines how the intervals are counted. For example, just to keep it simple, in the scale of c major, the 3th interval is an E, in the scale of C minor the 3th interval is an Eb.

does it works to down tune a half tone or a tune and a half?
@SeanPierceJohnson4 жыл бұрын
I’m sure you could make something to do that effect as a TonePrint but that’s a job probably better suited for the Brainwaves pitch shifter that TC makes.
@weixuan26844 жыл бұрын
hi, im about to get one. will this work with a multieffect pedal? like if i put this in front/behind the multieffect will i get desired sound?
@SeanPierceJohnson4 жыл бұрын
whatever you do with it, i would put it at the beginning of the pedal chain always. pitch shifting and harmony pedals are much better at the front of your chain so the effect has as true of a signal from your guitar as possible

So I picked one of these up about a month ago and I haven't had time to explore it much. I need a proper Whammy Toneprint. Apparently, that's actually quite tricky to achieve with this. There is a 5th^ "Nerd Whammy" but that isn't +1/+2 effect that I need for that song - the one that every covers band in the world plays (you know the one...) *sigh* shoulda kept my Pitchfork. Apart from that, based on my limited experience with it I would say: it's AWESOME for the three scales/modes I can play and this is, as always, a cool demo. I wanna stack it with my Micro POG and/or Boss MO-2 then into Boss Tera Echo. That is gonna be...interesting. Opamp Muff for gain. To wit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3i8nYOvdsx0ick
