good stuff, kid, really enjoying your XS 650 build. You have a great sense of design and a good goal in mind, I can't wait to see the finished product. Happily subbed. Keep up the builds, ride safe.

One suggestion for disassembly, when you take out the idle air screw (the one on top toward the engine) and you take the screw out with the spring on it - make sure you get the tiny washer and tiny o-ring out of the hole. You don't want to be putting the new o-ring and washer on top of the old! Also, when you put it back in, screw it in carefully until it seats - DO NOT force it - then back it out about 2-1/2 turns, which seems to be the the census on what setting runs best. By the way, EVERYONE forgets to pop the little screen on the needle seat insert!

Great video. Just one major tip. When working on Xs or any Japanese bike get a set of JIS (Japanese industry standard) screw drivers or bits, Less chance of camming out and stripping the screw.

Just found your channel/IG a few days ago. Binged the whole XS650 series up to here, my dream bike build. I have my license and gear, but I just bum a motorcycle off my dad when I'm in the mood. Floated the bike idea past the wife, no go. Probably has something to do with the unfinished, '53 Ford sitting on jackstands in my garage right now! Anyways, love the channel, love the vibes, keep up the killer work! 🤘

Nice! Yep, carb cleaning is always a joy, lol. I always seem to accidentally spray a little in my mouth, stuff burns, but Gumout is the best! I'd recommend for the "carb camera" you set your auto focus to manual after you've dialed it in, and it won't wander on you while filming. Set it at a higher f/stop and more will be in focus as well. Also, I've stripped out a lot of screws on carbs to recently realize that there's such thing as a JIS screwdriver (Japanese Industrial Standard) they've got a little dot on the head, and a standard Phillips will strip these babies out. Highly recommend one for Yamaha bikes. Keep up the good work! I'll try those buffing tips when I get my new jets for my bike.
@ChopperFisher4 жыл бұрын
Hey great point! On something like this it would definitely make more snese to jack up the f-stop, especially on those closer shots. I count on bokeh to hide my mess most of the time otherwise 😅 but thank you for checkong it out glad you enjoyed it ! 🙏

the kit does come with new ones but to clean the originals carb clean blasting through the holes will do the trick or an air gun, definitely dont poke anything in there though and they deff dont have to be shiny to work right! just not build up 👌

Ahh yes! Sometimes what happens is the hole the screw is in gets filled upnwith road grime, its on the very bottom of the bowl mounted horizontally and its the only one cant miss it! Just might need to scratch some dirt out to get to the screw or something

Damn bro that bike is looking titties,I actually love those carbs,as long as the needle and seat are clear,and diaphragm is unholy,I've always bench sync them and work perfectly, you can also get "Canadian needles" with adjustable clip,change main jet up one since they came lean,run one stage hotter plug and bingo its its purrfect
@ChopperFisher4 жыл бұрын
Hahah thanks man! Ill be running straight pipe so ill have to tweak them from here for sure but ill have a good clean start, ill have a small range of jets to work with anyway when the time comes, ive got a buddy from the lowlifechopperpodcast that built one with straight pipe so ill probably start with what hes running 🤘

@@ChopperFisher hey man yeah its definitely a bonus with the adjustable needle clip if you're running open pipes,I would do one up on the clip ,if your using pods one up on the main jet,but that's just what worked for me,anyways man,thanks for the comment and the vid,i subbed
