Did you do the video for replacing the springs I've got two lowers with broken springs and no one will touch them it would be great to see how to do it before I dig into it

Paint remover first and then sand blast, half the time and the work and less mess overall.

Am I correct to believe that one rebuilt with 3 seals and new bearing landing than they can no longer be rebuilt? No sleeve exists to sleeve the drive shafts?

Exelent explanation!! I need some help whith my gearbox that is having a problem with reverse gear, when you pull the lever into reverse it connect the gear but when i go back to neutral it wont release it. any thoughts?

Thanks Wayne, you're a wealth of information vital to restoring these older units - much appreciated ! subgod123, I too just acquired and old Bell Boy boat with the exact same setup. Can't find the stern drive anywhere with the model number (980712). What have you learned ? Care to swap notes ? I have discovered the engine is a 307 stroker (225 hp) but I still haven't found out what year the stern drive is. Until I take it apart I wont know whether its '69 or later and everything seems to work so I don't want to tear it down until I figure it out. If you have learned anything you can share I would appreciate it very much. Reply here and we can make arrangements to take up conversation somewhere off this channel.
