@@789armstrong Alexander Malofeev, in this competition, unfortunately gave an incredibly virtuosic test of Beethoven's sonata, but without a logical sense and without taking into account the right times indicated in the score. The third movement was absolutely horrible (Dumka, on the other hand, absolutely incredible). Which score are you talking about? The Kalmus Edition, or Schnabel Editions?

@@789armstrong I am not referring to any particular edition .... when I stated: "without taking into account the right times indicated in the score" I meant that Malofeev did not take into account a precise indication: time signature. The third movement mentions this: Allegro, ma non troppo , and only in the end Prestissimo. The pianist started the third movement at twice the indicated speed and therefore there was no difference between Allegro, ma non troppo and Prestissimo. This destroyed all the musical discourse, resulting in a set of notes without a direction. In my opinion this is the main (and right) reason why the young Alexander was eliminated.
