Gotta love Tchaikovsky. For him to write classical music and make it sound so unmistakably Russian was a mind boggling accomplishment. You interpret this beautifully and capture the spirit of Tchaikovsky attempting to fuse the two worlds of Eastern and Western music.

Thanks a lot! It’s true, Tchaikovsky was very conflicted and never really found peace of mind, but what came out of all this suffering is something for us to cherish for years after he is gone ❤️🎶

I like the execution of the last note (c#) but of course I like the entire execution. I admire his control of keyboard and his passionate expression of the musical piece. It seems to me that adagio or andante playing requires a great inner discipline without sacrificing the sublime expression of passion. Wonderful!

This was a wonderful interpretation Evgeny. You very well expressed all the sadness Tchaikovsky may have felt in his life in Russia in the 19th century. Indeed it takes a long time to find the right interpretation. It certainly has something to do with age too. And as you told in one of yr. other video's, sometimes it 's better to leave a piece and do not play it for 14 days. And after this period when not playing the piece, it suddenly goes a lot better than before. Thanks very much for all yr. educational video's. Hope you will play in Amsterdam some time. I will certainly attend yr. concert. Greets from the Netherlands tot Bulgaria.

Such a calm and peacefully played piece . It calmed my soul. Whatever Tchaikovsky's conflict, this composition must have given him peace. Thank you for sharing.

My piano teacher assigned this piece to me recently, so I was surprised to see you have recorded it before. I love your interpretation! I started playing at 11 (17 now) and will probably never become a professional pianist, but I wish I'll be able one day to play it as beautifully as you did. Thanks for the video!!

Tchaikovsky Nocturne op19 no 4 To me , With entrance ,never have I heard such Breathtakingly Beautiful tinkering delicacy of piano keys,🌹As though someone was in a garden of hidden Heavenly delights; flowers ,glorious Beauty everywhere🔥 ,building to the heights of Ecstasy and Contentment,🌹very slowly determination of something or someone trying to conquer the perfect delight that had been found, was then Note by note, slipping into sadness, Dreams destroyed 🎶Yet with this 🔥The Soul had a little Flower of Hope ,even though the Enormous Beauty they Beheld was to be no more,🌹(ending notes softly playing by you)Left me with an impression that 🎶 LIFE ALWAYS WAS STILL WORTH LIVING AND GIVING ♥️ EVGENY,🌹Absolutely one of my favorites from you 🥀SOOO VERY BEAUTIFUL 🔥Love Susan

Wow, so this is the same Tchaikovsky who wrote 6 symphonies, the concerti for piano and violin, opera, orch. overtures etc ... all large-scale, very impressive music. I'd never heard this side of his output before. Very interesting (including your "Season's" video). Thanks! And very well -played as usual.

Thanks a lot, happy you enjoyed the performances! Actually the miniatures are as integral to his writing as the large-scale works and still represent him in an expressive and meaningful way. These are some of my favourite pieces to play 🎶🙌🏼

Evgeny - I love your interpretation. I noticed your tempo is much slower than a lot of pianists - it really works beautifully and brings out the singing nature of the main melody! But since I've been working on this piece, I also see the tempo marking is andante, in 4 which I hear as quite a bit faster. And the "un poco capriccioso" notation in the reprise to me suggests a faster tempo. I struggle with these decisions -what is the "right" tempo for me?. How do you decide on tempi when you are working on and performing a piece?
