That eye splice at 4:08 looks like it may be missing the core. They sell that style of Flemish splice in sailing rope, and it is easy to make. Those eye splices are good for pulling rope into position, but with no core there is a huge drop in strength. So watch out if you want to use the rope for critical pulling or life support.
